Katy Perry backs this sustainable food startup $250M funding round

Apeel, a Santa Barbara-based food tech has recently scored $250M in Series E funding led by returning investor Temasek. With this, their total funding has now exceeded $635 million, at a valuation over $2 billion.

More new and returning investors participated in the round including Mirae Asset Global Investments, Viking Global Investors, Disruptive, Andreessen Horowitz, GIC, Tenere Capital, David Barber of Almanac Insights, Sweetwater Private Equity, Anne Wojcicki of 23andMe, Tao Capital Partners, K3 Ventures, Michael Ovitz of Creative Artists Agency, Susan Wojcicki of YouTube, and also famous Americal singer Katy Perry.

This new investment will allow Apeel’s sustainable partnerships and help the company aim to prevent food waste. Further, the food tech aims to nurture new supply networks with produce suppliers and retailers across the U.S., U.K., and Europe.
