The U.S. home services sector is dominated by 2.5 million skilled workers, most of whom operate as solo entrepreneurs or small teams with little access to marketing or modern business software. Topline Pro, a startup transforming how home service professionals grow and manage their businesses, aims to change that by providing a streamlined platform that fully automates marketing, sales, and operational tasks.
Last week, the company closed a $27 million Series B funding round led by Northzone, bringing total funding to $44 million. This new capital will help replace fragmented and expensive solutions with a comprehensive, AI-driven operating system that automates marketing, sales, and operational workflows. To date, Topline Pro has supported thousands of home service pros across all 50 states, generating over $655 million in booked work.
When asked about valuation, CEO Nick Ornitz said, “We are excited to have raised our latest funding round, but we aren’t disclosing our valuation at this time.”
Empowering pros to focus on their craft
Founded during their time at Harvard Business School, Nick Ornitz and Shannon Kay, who previously created Dwelling, a platform connecting homeowners with trusted service providers, Topline Pro has quietly helped thousands of small businesses generate over $655 million in booked work across all 50 states.
Nick explained to TFN: “Topline Pro was born out of a recognised market need that Shannon and I experienced firsthand. The tools available were clunky and time-consuming, leaving pros struggling to compete with larger companies. When we gained early access to GPT-3 at Y Combinator in 2021, we realised AI could level the playing field and empower every pro to grow without needing to be tech experts.”
Shannon Kay added perspective on diversity and inclusion: “As a co-founder and a woman in tech, my experience has been a mix of challenges and incredible opportunities. I learned the value of building a strong network of mentors and peers. My advice to others entering tech is to cultivate a network of trusted advisors who support and challenge you.”
AI-powered operating system tailored for small businesses
Topline Pro’s technology is designed to serve the long tail of small home service businesses that have historically been overlooked. The platform revolves around three AI agents that autonomously manage marketing, sales, and operations. The AI Marketing Agent handles everything from social media to paid ads, the AI Sales Agent manages customer communications 24/7, and the AI Operations Agent streamlines scheduling, messaging, and customer experience, all done behind the scenes without requiring pros to become software experts.
This all-in-one solution sets Topline Pro apart from competitors like Housecall Pro, Jobber, or AI website builders such as Wix. Unlike these point solutions or traditional marketing agencies, Topline Pro offers a fully integrated AI-powered back office that not only designs a pro’s online presence but actively runs their business workflow autonomously.
Ornitz summarised: “By building an AI tailored specifically to the needs of small home service pros, Topline Pro empowers them to own their growth, build sustainable businesses, and operate with control, all without relying on costly lead marketplaces or cobbled-together tools.”
What’s next for Topline Pro?
Looking forward, Topline Pro aims to continuously enhance its AI agents, moving toward proactive demand forecasting, automated invoicing and payments, and deeply personalised growth strategies. The company is also focused on comprehensive onboarding and customer success to ensure that every pro sees meaningful ROI from day one.
With plans to expand its team and scale nationally, Topline Pro envisions becoming the essential AI business partner for every home service professional in the US.
Ornitz concluded: “We’re building Topline Pro to be the base layer powering the success of over 2.5 million small businesses, most of them solo operators, by pushing the boundaries of agentic technology. Our AI will take on more of the day-to-day work: running online presence, responding to booking requests, quoting work, scheduling jobs, following up on payments, and everything in between. Our vision is simple: pros focus on their craft, and our AI runs the business in the background.”
