San Francisco and London- based Streamkap, a pioneering real-time data streaming provider, has successfully raised $3.3M in seed and pre-seed funding. Led by InReach Ventures and joined by TEN13, Haatch Ventures, and Begin Capital, this funding round also saw participation from angel investors associated with prominent companies such as Datadog, Anthropic, and Clickhouse.
Real-time data streaming is one of those technologies that often goes unnoticed, yet it benefits billions of people daily. It helps us find what we want while online shopping, track parcels or taxi arrivals in real-time, and stream entertainment seamlessly. Beyond these everyday uses, it plays a crucial role in medical, industrial, and advertising applications. This technology enhances customer and end-user experiences, boosts efficiency, and enables rapid responses to critical changes, ultimately saving time, money, and even lives.
Empowering businesses with real-time data
Founded in June 2022 by data entrepreneurs Paul Dudley and Ricky Thomas, Streamkap aims to make real-time data streaming accessible and cost-effective for businesses. The company’s low-maintenance streaming ETL platform, built on Apache Kafka and Flink, facilitates the seamless movement of data from point A to B with minimal setup, enabling companies to meet the growing demand for immediate, data-driven customer experiences.
Enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency
Streamkap’s platform supports low-latency data streams, which are crucial for enhancing customer experiences and improving operational efficiency across various industries, including finance, e-commerce, healthcare, and entertainment. Customers like BrandAlley and SpotOn have already reported significant improvements in engagement, sales, and operational efficiency due to Streamkap’s capabilities, which are faster and more economical compared to traditional batch processing systems.
Meeting modern consumer expectations
In today’s digital landscape, consumers expect real-time updates and seamless interactions. Streamkap addresses this need by enabling businesses to integrate real-time data into their operations. For example, in e-commerce, real-time data allows for up-to-the-minute product recommendations, stock updates, and personalised promotions, enhancing the shopping experience significantly.
Paul Dudley, Co-Founder of Streamkap, emphasised, “Today, consumers increasingly expect and demand real-time experiences, and businesses need faster data to power these experiences and make critical decisions. We’re making real-time data easy by helping companies get low-latency data into modern data platforms with the simplicity of a traditional cloud-based ETL.”
Strategic partnerships and AI integration
The importance of real-time data in AI workloads is underscored by OpenAI’s recent acquisition of Rockset, a Streamkap partner. Real-time data is critical for AI applications, including retrieval augmented generation (RAG), which integrates enterprise-specific data to enhance large language models with accurate and relevant results.
Expansion and future plans
With the new funding, Streamkap plans to expand its engineering and go-to-market teams, which have already doubled in size this year. The company is also investing in new capabilities for stream processing to further reduce latency and meet the growing demand for real-time data solutions in modern data infrastructures.
Ricky Thomas, Co-Founder of Streamkap, noted, “We’ve seen tremendous demand from companies wanting to make their data real-time, whether they’re looking to speed up their existing data stack with Snowflake or other real-time technologies.”
