Juristic, a Scandinavian legal tech startup transforming the way lawyers work with legal cases and law, has secured $1 million in an investment round. The round witnessed contributions from Ugly Duckling Ventures (invested in Kollektive and BeCause) and Jonatan Hjortdal. Other investors include law firm partner,  investor, and serial entrepreneur Jens Bang Liebst, who has founded multiple legal tech companies.

The company will use this investment to accelerate its growth trajectory, strengthen its market position, and further enhance its product offerings, especially within artificial intelligence. It plans to fuel its growth and expansion plans in Scandinavia and Europe.

Having already expanded its customers and user base to 5 countries in 2023, Juristic aims to at least double this during the next 12 months, with a focus on the Nordic markets, Europe, and the UK.

“We are thrilled to have secured this investment, which will empower us to continue driving innovation in the legal industry,” said Christian Hjortshøj, LL.M. and co-founder of Juristic ApS. “With the support of such a strong team of investors, we are confident in our ability to continue delivering exceptional value to our customers and their clients”.

Rune Hven-Jensen, Co-Founder and GP in Ugly Duckling Ventures said: “From the first meeting and all through-out a meticulous and well-executed due diligence process, Juristicshowed us an incredible technology that has the potential to expand across borders – without restrictions due to jurisdictions or language. In other words, it can be used by anyone and has the potential to drive a true paradigm shift in the approach to legal tech!”

“From the beginning, Juristic has been combining traditional practices with cutting-edge methodologies. They have successfully created a platform that is usable for any type of lawyer – no matter where in the world you are,” says Jonatan Hjortdal, a Danish attorney and angel investor.

Founded in 2021 by Christian Hjortshøj and Kean Ottesen in Copenhagen, Juristic was started to empower legal advisors. Its platform combines legal principles taught in law schools and industry-leading law firms with best-in-class technology.

It combines the visual concepts, such as timelines, structuring tools, and interactive task management, that lawyers and attorneys use in their daily work with an intuitive digital toolbox with a focus on output and document automation. The platform can be supplemented with legal AI when it is needed by the law firm or end user. The key objective is to bring the advanced technology closer to the way legal issues are approached today.

Juristic’s platform consists of multiple products that are designed in close collaboration with law firms, including market and industry leaders across multiple jurisdictions.

“Juristic’s team is comprised of a rare perfect blend of legal domain insights and technological prowess. That is what makes Juristic special and is absolutely why they have been able to grow in such a way in multiple countries,” stated Jens Bang Liebst. “There are almost as many people with a legal background in the company as there are tech people and that’s why the product works as well as it does.”
