ProteanTecs, which provides an AI platform for monitoring chip reliability, announced today that it has raised $45M in funding from Addition. The investment will help the company maintain its market leadership, bringing its total funding to roughly $200M since its inception in 2017.

The investment is a significant step forward in the company’s expansion strategy, and it follows Koch Disruptive Technologies’ Growth Equity Round and recently completed Growth Equity Round Extension. MediaTek, Advantest, and Porsche SE are among the newest investors.

Fund utilisation

The company plans to use the fresh funds to expand its global team while also continuing to innovate and improve its product offering.

proteanTecs, a telemetry platform that applies analytics to data collected by “on-chip agents,” was founded in 2017 by former Mellanox cofounders (tiny semiconductor cores). proteanTecs models hundreds of alternative manufacturing variants for each proposed chip during ideation, delivering insights into performance, power, frequency, area, and parametric yields. The platform embeds agents to cover a chip’s profiling, health, and performance, and it develops and uploads design simulations across hundreds of variants before processing them with AI algorithms prior to chip mass manufacturing.

“As technologies improve and usage requirements expand, monitoring and analysis become more important,” said Shai Cohen, CEO and co-founder of proteanTecs. “It’s in our DNA to assist firms in transforming production and service by offering essential business insights. As we approach a new and exciting chapter of the company’s growth, we look forward to working with our new partners.”

Tech at play

proteanTecs uses analytics on agent readouts to trigger important alerts after the chips are installed in PCs, servers, vehicles, smartphones, and other devices. On a daily basis, the platform alerts users to potential hardware failures and faults in the system, environment, and device, with the goal of pinpointing the source.

The company’s analytics platform provides predictive insights and visibility by applying machine learning to novel data provided by on-chip UCT agents, resulting in unprecedented levels of quality, dependability, and scale.

“proteanTecs’ software provides unique visibility into the reliability and security of electronics systems, which will remove roadblocks for customers as they continue to scale their businesses with more advanced chips,” said Lee Fixel of Addition. “We look forward to supporting the proteanTecs team as they expand their global footprint and continue to drive innovation for performance monitoring of electronics.”
