PhysicsX, a startup revolutionising part design for defence and aerospace manufacturers, eyes to raise up to $100 million from the global chip leader Nvidia.

The company’s innovative platform enables rapid development of manufacturing components by simulating material behaviours and engineering designs under varied conditions. This capability is transforming the pace and cost structure of manufacturing in complex industries.

Nvidia’s commitment fuels growth

PhysicsX’s $20 million funding round in June, followed the $135 million Series B, which was closed earlier this year. Nvidia’s participation reflects the chipmaker’s expanding interest in European startups developing technologies aligned with its hardware and software ecosystems. Beyond this immediate investment, Nvidia retains the right to contribute another $80 million in PhysicsX’s next capital raise, highlighting a long-term collaboration.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been publicly committed to investing billions in UK-based startups, and PhysicsX represents one of the most promising ventures benefiting from this strategy. The partnership exemplifies Nvidia’s broader push into diverse tech areas across Europe, including workflow automation, molecule discovery, and generative platforms.

Cuts cost and time in high-stakes industries

Founded in 2019 by former Formula 1 engineers Jacomo Corbo and Robin Tuluie, PhysicsX has quickly attracted attention for its software’s ability to dramatically reduce physical prototyping needs. The platform’s simulation engines allow manufacturers to rapidly iterate product designs, significantly trimming development timelines and cutting costs. This has made it especially attractive in defence and aerospace, fields where precision and reliability are critical and the cost of trial and error is high.

The technology also finds applications beyond its core sectors, serving industries like semiconductor fabrication, automotive, energy, and materials science. Notable customers such as Rio Tinto, Siemens, and Applied Materials rely on PhysicsX’s tools to streamline innovation processes and improve product robustness.
