The architectural design process is often complex, expensive, and time-consuming, especially for non-professionals like homeowners or small builders. Maket addresses this issue by offering a generative AI platform that enables users to quickly generate floor plans, edit layouts, and visualise spaces in 3D with ease.

The company recently secured $3.4 million CAD in seed funding led by Amiral Ventures, with support from Blitzscaling Ventures, BY Venture Partners, and Hidden Layers.

Since its launch in 2023, Maket has grown to over one million registered users and a team of about 14-15 employees, raising more than $4 million CAD in total funding.

ChatGPT for architecture

Maket was founded in 2020 by Patrick Murphy, Stéphane Turbide, and Simon Vallée, with a mission to make beautiful architecture accessible quickly and affordably, providing tools that empower both professionals and everyday users to design smarter and faster.

“Everyone should have access to beautiful architecture. Maket gives anyone the power to shape their home or project quickly, affordably and beautifully. This funding validates the incredible progress our team has made and the market’s belief in a more democratic, inclusive approach to design,” said Murphy.

Maket’s platform acts like an architectural brain by embedding in-depth design expertise within its generative AI algorithms. It allows instant creation of customised floor plans from user inputs, coupled with editing and 3D visualisation.

Founders told TFN, “Our core product is Maket – your AI architect. It’s like ChatGPT, but for architecture. With Maket, anyone can generate floor plans, edit layouts, visualise in 3D and customise with furniture and finishes in seconds. What makes Maket unique is its simplicity: you don’t need to be a professional to use it. We’re making the architectural process radically more inclusive, faster, and smarter through generative AI.”

The system offers intelligent recommendations and design guidance throughout the workflow. Key features include rapid floorplan generation, AI-fueled style exploration, expert-informed decision support, and a soon-to-launch regulatory assistant to simplify zoning code compliance.

Unlike traditional architectural tools (such as ARCHITECTUREs, ArkDesign AI, Archistar, TestFit, Cove.tool) that demand manual input and separate fragmented tools, Maket delivers an integrated, user-friendly AI-driven experience accessible to builders, developers, and homeowners alike.

What’s next?

Looking ahead, Maket plans to release Maket 2.0 in early 2026. This new version will enhance the AI capabilities and add professional tools for zoning code verification, HVAC planning, and material takeoffs.

The company offers a subscription model starting at about $30 CAD per month for individual users, while larger enterprise plans will enable integration of custom workflows and plan libraries for builders, prefab manufacturers, and developers.

“Maket is bringing a disruptive new approach to an industry that has been slow to change, empowering both professionals and everyday creators to design smarter, faster, and more beautifully than ever before,” said Frédéric Bastien, Managing Partner at Amiral Ventures.
