Ex-NordVPN founders’ Nexos.ai raises €30M to build a “Switzerland for LLMs”

Founded in late 2024 by Lithuanian entrepreneur duo Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas, Nexos.ai has rapidly emerged as a European rising star in enterprise AI infrastructure. The founders, who previously built the $3 billion cybersecurity giant Nord Security behind NordVPN, have closed a €30 million Series A funding round led by Index Ventures and Evantic Capital, with support from Creandum and DIG Ventures, at a €300 million valuation.

Their startup tackles a pressing problem: enterprises struggling to adopt AI securely without risking data leaks as employees upload sensitive information to large language models (LLMs).

Nexos.ai’s mission is to become a “Switzerland for LLMs,” acting as a neutral intermediary that balances productivity gains with enterprise-grade governance and data control. This ethos is rooted in Okmanas and Sabaliauskas’s deep experience building Tesonet, a portfolio of tech ventures where AI-driven efficiency gains have already been demonstrated, like Hostinger’s €10 million savings from AI-assisted support.

The technology itself centres on two products: an AI Workspace for employees and an AI Gateway for developers. The Gateway unifies access and oversight of over 200 AI models, spanning major providers such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Meta, while offering a single security, compliance, and cost management control layer.

This multifaceted orchestration capability distinctly positions Nexos.ai against competitors like UiPath, Kore.ai, Botpress, and IBM WatsonX Orchestrate, who focus more narrowly on automation or AI tools rather than end-to-end enterprise AI governance.

With its new capital, Nexos.ai plans to scale its team to around 100 employees and accelerate expansion across Europe and North America, particularly targeting regulated sectors and public institutions concerned about data sovereignty.

The company is conducting 50 to 60 demos weekly with tech-savvy firms already using AI daily, aiming to help more enterprises overcome the “homework” their boardrooms face when defining AI strategy.
