Reflection AI, a growing startup building AI-powered coding automation tools, is reportedly in talks to raise around $1 billion in fresh funding at a valuation between $4.5 billion and $5.5 billion. If completed, the deal would mark a nearly tenfold surge in valuation just six months after its last round of $130 million, which valued it at $545 million.
The new round is backed by some of the influential investors, including Nvidia’s venture arm is expected to invest at least $250 million, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, and DST Global.
Founders with DeepMind expertise
Founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, Reflection AI has quickly emerged as one of the most closely watched entrants in the AI space. Its core focus is developing advanced coding tools, which are widely seen as one of the most practical and commercially scalable applications of AI today.
Earlier this year, the company launched Asimov, a research agent designed to push forward the understanding and automation of complex code.
Scaling towards superintelligence
Reflection AI is dedicated to building superintelligent systems, with an initial focus on coding agents, aiming to push the boundaries of what AI can achieve autonomously.
If the company succeeds in turning coding automation into a widely adopted enterprise tool, it could establish itself as a cornerstone in the ecosystem of next-generation AI applications. At the same time, its more ambitious vision places it in direct competition with giants like Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
Our thoughts
With $1 billion in new capital on the horizon, Reflection AI is positioning itself as one of the most significant challengers in the global AI race. The pace of Reflection’s valuation increase highlights both investor appetite for transformative AI startups and the competitive dynamics reshaping Silicon Valley.
