The Beijing-based leader in aerial work robots has just announced closing its Series B funding round bagging $15M. This brings its total funding to approximately $35M since its founding in 2017. This latest offering was co-led by Meituan, China’s leading technology and online retail company, and Fosun, an intercontinental innovation-driven consumer group.

Robot++ intends on using the new capital to accelerate its R&D timeline while expanding its global presence. The company also hopes to avail new robotic offerings for cargo hold cleaning, tank painting and facade cleaning, on top of upgrading present products by integrating more autonomous technologies.

What Robot++ offers with its robotics solutions

The China-based robotics company provides a plethora of robotics solutions for crucial industries such as maritime, ship repair, power generation & petrochemicals. The focus is on addressing the need to improve aerial work safety for operators while uplifting the efficiency of Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) solutions, and lowering the operational costs for asset owners.

Some of its products include a ship derusting robot, used for hull & cargo hold cleaning and derusting. Another is its boiler robot which is primarily used for water wall inspection and ash cleaning in boilers. Others include a chemical tank grinding robot and a wall-climbing robot, in a list that’s set to grow.

The result of its innovative efforts has been Robot++ emerging to be a market leader in magnetic crawler robots, boasting hundreds of robots already sold to clients worldwide. Thanks to its large team of top tier engineers and operators in place, Robot++ also provides Robot as a Service (RaaS) services to clients, enabling the company to not only offer timely & cost-effective services but also to gain insights into industrial application scenarios.

“Our latest round of funding contributes to the positive momentum we have been building over the past year. With a growing market share across our key territories, we look to continue to deliver more transformational results to our current and future clients,” stated Robot++ co-founder and CEO Hua-yang Xu. Andy Lu, partner & SVP of Robot++ added, “ While we’ve previously focused on the Chinese market, 2021 has brought us more success outside China. We’re looking forward to making our solutions available to a broader audience and cementing our position as a key player globally.”

Founded by Huayang Xu, Weiping Zhou, Yu Jiang & Zhichao Wang and headquartered in Beijing, the company now hopes to set up an office in Singapore to expand its ability to serve the Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

“An ageing workforce, rising labour costs, frequent aerial work-related accidents, and the COVID-19 pandemic have had an accelerative effect on the aerial work robotics sector,” stated Fosun’s investment manager Pu Xiao. “Robotplusplus’ mission is to empower humans with robots while helping increase operational safety and productivity. We’re excited to support RobotPlusPlus in leveraging AI and RaaS to optimize aerial work environments and enable robotic applications.
