Based out of Spain, Liceo de Farmacia is a startup that unifies two powerful industries – technology and the pharmaceutical industry. Now, the company has captured the attention of a major European investor by closing €500K in pre-seed funding.

Brighteye, one of Europe’s most important VCs in the edtech space, led the early-stage round in Liceo de Farmacia. The VC has already invested in Oneday, Sdui and HackTheBox. The investment will be used by Liceo de Farmacia to invest in R&D and further develop new tools to help pharmacies stay up-to-date and become increasingly competitive.

With this round, the Spanish startup aims to consolidate itself as the leading e-learning company in the Spanish pharmaceutical sector. Furthermore, this collaboration with Brighteye helps them to open doors to the European and Latin American markets.

Javier Baquero, co-founder at Liceo de Farmacia and a pharmacy holder said: “Pharmacy professionals must constantly update their knowledge and skills as it is a sector that evolves and changes rapidly. At Liceo, we help them to acquire and reinforce those skills and knowledge, and we do it in an easy and attractive way for the user, through a practical training method. We have an expert team in new technologies that work every day to create digital tools for pharmacists, and we use gamification techniques to keep the user motivated and help their business grow.”

“We are thrilled to have Brighteye Ventures by our side in this new phase of growth and expansion beyond Spain. This is an important step for us in our mission to offer high-quality training to pharmacists and it shows that we are on the right track. We have big ambitions for Liceo, such as reaching the Latin American market, where we are already getting our first clients,” added Jose Lozano, CEO at Liceo di Farmacia.

Online platform for pharmacy operations

Founded by Javier Baquero in 2016, Liceo de Farmacia offers a platform for practical training on how to improve the patient experience, apply sales techniques in the pharmacy context, and improve general pharmacy operations via business management.

Already, the company has trained hundreds of pharmacists, entire pharmacies teams across Spain and has gained the trust of major players in the Spanish pharmaceutical sector. The company has a multidisciplinary team of professionals with experience in the pharmaceutical, technological, telecommunications, and marketing sectors.

In addition, Liceo de Farmacia has another objective for the future, which is to launch Liceo Jobs. After training and equipping pharmacists with its platform and digital tools, the company could connect them with pharmacies that need to recruit qualified professionals. Liceo Jobs would be the perfect meeting point to match job positions with suitable applicants.
