SafetyCulture raises £85M investment in its latest funding round, led by Airtree Ventures, to accelerate AI-powered innovation and scale its global operations.
Global technology company SafetyCulture, based in Manchester has secured £85M in a recent funding round aimed at driving further global expansion and enhancing AI capabilities for frontline workers. The round, led by Airtree Ventures and supported by existing investors Blackbird and Morpheus Ventures, will be used to fuel SafetyCulture’s growth into larger enterprise customers and reward its long-term employees. This comes shortly after the company achieved unicorn status with a £1.3 billion valuation.
In the UK, SafetyCulture’s platform is already adopted by more than 25,000 businesses, including high-profile clients like the NHS, National Grid, British Airways, and Transport for London. The Manchester office, home to the company’s growing EMEA team, plays a key role in expanding SafetyCulture’s reach across the region.
AI adoption and workplace innovation
The investment will enable SafetyCulture to build upon the AI-powered features it introduced in 2023, such as mobile-first training course creation and instant inspection templates. These tools are designed to streamline workplace operations and empower frontline teams with enhanced productivity tools.
Luke Anear, Founder and CEO of SafetyCulture, expressed his excitement about the funding round: “We have now closed this round and are excited about the opportunities it creates for us to accelerate our growth and help even more customers. It’s a tough environment to be raising in, but we’re proud of the results the business is delivering and pleased that we can continue to create regular liquidity events for early investors and long-term employees. We’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to transforming frontline work. Few tech companies have our direct reach to frontline workers across so many different industries, so we have both a responsibility and a massive opportunity to create significant change for these people.”
SafetyCulture’s platform supports 85,000 businesses and nearly two million users worldwide, with features that enable businesses to manage safety, quality, and operational checks. Its latest advancements in AI are aimed at transforming how frontline teams interact with data, improving workplace safety, and boosting productivity.
Anear believes that AI holds transformative potential for frontline workers: “We’ve built the world’s largest repository of workplace data, containing over five petabytes of data and billions of images. AI is the way we can make sense of that information, and if we can harness it properly, we’ll effectively be able to give frontline teams superpowers that will completely change the way they work.”
SafetyCulture’s platform performs over a billion checks annually, delivering 85,000 lessons daily and providing actionable insights for millions of corrective actions. Its expansion strategy is supported by a workforce of eight hundred employees across six global offices, with the company recently adding one hundred new roles to meet growing demand.
Kell Reilly, Partner at Airtree Ventures, spoke on the importance of this funding: “Having tracked SafetyCulture’s journey to date, now is an opportune time to join them at this inflection point. SafetyCulture has all the hallmarks of Silicon Valley’s tech heavyweights–a compelling vision, product, scale and team. We’re excited to partner with another Aussie success story that’s making waves on the global stage.”
SafetyCulture’s continued focus on AI and workplace safety positions it as a innovator in the global safety technology landscape, with the company aiming to reach one hundred million users by 2032.
