New York-based VAST Data has announced a $1.17 billion collaboration with CoreWeave, one of the fastest-growing AI cloud providers. This multi-year deal will make VAST the primary data platform for CoreWeave’s cloud infrastructure, enabling customers to access GPUs for building and running large-scale AI models more efficiently. The agreement strengthens the company’s foothold among top-tier clients such as AWS, Nebius, and xAI.
Builds the ‘Operating System for the Thinking Machine’
VAST Data’s vision extends beyond traditional storage. It aims to become the “Operating System for the Thinking Machine.” Its technology organises vast amounts of structured and unstructured data, ensuring rapid retrieval through retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) mechanisms. This layered approach transforms static data into dynamic insights, essential for today’s AI-driven workloads.
By aligning its roadmap with CoreWeave’s, VAST plans to optimise how enterprises store, manage, and access data for AI applications. The collaboration effectively bridges a gap in the neocloud ecosystem, adding depth to CoreWeave’s GPU-driven services with VAST’s intelligent data foundation.
Fuels valuation growth and IPO ambitions
Financially, this deal comes at a pivotal moment for VAST. The company, which recently crossed $200 million in annual revenue and reported positive cash flow, is in talks to raise several billion dollars in new capital at a potential $30 billion valuation. Backed by investors like CapitalG and Nvidia, such a round could more than triple its previous valuation of $9.1 billion from 2023.
The CoreWeave partnership reinforces investor confidence and positions VAST as a strong IPO candidate, much like CoreWeave, which went public earlier this year on March 28.
By combining VAST’s intelligent data management with CoreWeave’s high-performance compute infrastructure, the partnership lays the groundwork for faster, smarter, and more scalable AI development. VAST’s move shows its readiness to become the backbone of next-generation AI infrastructure.
