Munich-based startup Kertos grabs €1M for its data privacy automation

Kertos, a Munich-headquartered data privacy automation startup, has just grabbed €1 million in a pre-seed funding.

The financing round was led by 10x Founders from Munich alongside participation from xDeck, Superlyst, the unicorn-founders Fabian Wesemann (wefox) & Ronny Shibley (Gorillas), as well as Sebastian Schaal (Luminovo) and the European legal tech and privacy experts Lisa Gradow (Usercentrics), Phillip Eischet & Dr. Benedikt Quarch (RightNow).

The startup intends to use the proceeds of this round to ramp up the team to more than 15 members within weeks. Also, it was announced that it will release the beta version of its product, which addresses the most pressing demands in common privacy workflows while partnering with industry leading ventures.

“We are honored to partner with such forward-thinking Investors and business angels, who share our passion and vision for the future in data privacy bringing Europe back into its thought leadership position and building the next generation of privacy technology – made in Europe“, said Co-Founder Kilian Schmidt.

“Being a developer myself I was well aware of the high standards and challenges privacy regulation requires from modern engineering teams, yet I am truly impressed of what the team has delivered over the last weeks and are happy to finally see the product in action”, said Co-Founder Alexander Prams.

First-of-its-kind product in Europe

Kertos was founded in November 2021 by Kilian Schmidt, Johannes Hussak and Alexander Prams. It is the first true data privacy automation product in Europe, which leads the next-generation of privacy technology.

Kertos structures, manages and automates internal company data protection processes. The platform enables tasks to be processed easily and efficiently across departments, transparently, automatically and securely.

With its no code system integrations and automated privacy workflows, Kertos closes the gap between data privacy regulation and it’s operational execution. As it manages personal data across the entire IT infrastructure, the startup tackles any privacy workflow such as data subject rights from deletion or access requests to the record of processing activities or entire deletion concepts.

The no code solution and easy integration ensures a GDPR compliant management of personal data with just clicks to integrate. The product connects internal and external systems via existing (API) interfaces.

What does Kertos do?

Prioritising automated privacy operations first, it enables cross-functional teams to focus on their business again while embracing privacy rights – automated, secure and GDPR compliant with no data transfer outside the EU.

The startup integrates systems and connects third-party services and automates the entire privacy compliance. It creates streamlined workflows and simplified collaboration with automation through system integration. Transparent, secure and with an audit ready documentation.

Kertos unifies processes and automates the operational requirements of data privacy operations in one platform. It structures, manages and automates internal company data privacy processes.
