Simpmatch, a Munich-based startup that supports job seekers in finding a job as a delivery driver quickly, easily and safely has just raised €2.5M in a funding round. The software startup helps companies automatically identify and hire suitable candidates in the blue-collar sector and their round was led by the European seed fund 10x Founders, with participation from Bonsai Partners, the Flaschenpost founders Niklas Plath, Christopher Huesmann, and other business angels.
Commenting on the funding round, co-founder and CEO Richard Fischer says “We are very pleased to have found a strong and entrepreneurial partner in 10x Founders. We are also extremely pleased with the support of Bonsai Partners, Niklas Plath, and Christopher Huesmann – they are convinced of our plans and support us in continuing to grow. With the new capital, we want to grow further, advance our product, and, for example, further develop our academy, which will support drivers with further training opportunities free of charge.
As Simpmatch raised its funding, we at TFN had a chat with Richard Fischer, co-founder, and CEO, to know more about the company. According to Fischer, the latest funds will help Simpmatch to accelerate its planned expansion in the DACH region and to take on additional industries, such as aviation, catering & events, nursing, hotels, service, and production.
Simpmatch was founded in 2021 by four founders – Richard Fischer (CEO), Steven Miller (Marketing Lead), Emanuel Wernitz (Tech Lead), and Michael König (Sales Lead), who knows each other from university, school, or through other friends in common.
However, Fischer came up with the Simpmatch idea during his stint at Amazon, where he was leading an EU-wide recruiting project. Whilst doing, he immediately identified the need for change in how blue-collar recruiting works
“It didn’t take long until we realised that with our complementary skill sets, we could form an excellent founding team.”
Simpmatch connects job seekers in the delivery and logistics industry with suitable employers on driverhero.de. The company leverages the automated process and reverse recruiting approach that significantly shortens the application process.
Currently, DriverHero is active in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Zurich.
Revolutionise blue and grey collar market
“We are not an average job portal. We build software that simplifies blue-collar recruiting. So, both job seekers, as well as employers, benefit from it,” says Fischer.
Searchers and companies are matched by the algorithm based on their requirements and hired through a digital process.
Unlike other recruiting service providers, Simpmatch, apart from recruiting process (such as sourcing or candidate communication), also offers services for the E2E recruiting process (from sourcing to hiring), says Fischer. The company is on a mission to revolutionise the blue and grey collar market.
“These aspects allow us not only to make existing processes more efficient but also to develop and implement new concepts together with our customers,” he adds.
Dealing with market downturn
Talking about dealing with the Market downturn, Fischer concludes, “We had the idea even before the whole instant delivery hype came up. Since the market opportunity is huge whether it’s with or without the instant delivery sector, we actively decided to start with this vertical. Thanks to the planned verticalisation we are now going to even increase our potential market opportunities much further.”
To date, more than 10,000 candidates have already been brought together with companies such as Knuspr, instabox, and Gorillas.
Jan Reichelt from 10x Founders is convinced of the young company’s product and team: “We see enormous growth potential in Simpmatch’s approach, as the team thinks about recruiting from an employee-side perspective and builds a user-friendly product. Simpmatch already has an impressive track record after a short time. We are hugely looking forward to working with them!”
