For years, retail investors in Turkey have struggled with high fees, limited market access, and fragmented platforms that made investing cumbersome and costly. Midas, a fintech startup based in Istanbul, has changed that narrative by offering a single, commission-free platform where users can trade Borsa Istanbul stocks, U.S. equities, mutual funds, and cryptocurrencies.
Today, Midas raised $80 million in a Series B funding round led by QED Investors. New investors include the International Finance Corporation (IFC), HSG (formerly Sequoia China), QuantumLight (co-founded by Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky), Spice Expeditions LP, and George Rzepecki. Existing investors such as Spark Capital, Portage Ventures, Bek Ventures, and Nigel Morris also joined this round. This funding marks the largest-ever fintech investment in Turkey and pushes Midas’ total capital raised beyond $140 million.
Egem Eraslan, CEO of Midas, said: “With this new funding, we are building a comprehensive ecosystem that unifies all investment needs on one platform, while further strengthening our security and technology infrastructure. This will enable us to keep growing as a fintech company that serves the needs of individual investors both in Turkey and globally.”
Visionary leadership driving financial inclusion
Since launching in 2020, Eraslan and his team have pursued a clear mission: to make investing accessible, affordable, and simple. Midas now serves 3.5 million users, offering commission-free access not only to Borsa Istanbul stocks but also to U.S. equities, cryptocurrencies, and mutual funds, all from one app.
Egem Eraslan, CEO of Midas, said: “From day one, our mission has been to make investing accessible, affordable, and seamless for everyone. Today, millions of people manage their investments through Midas.”
What’s so special about Midas?
Midas has set itself apart by aggressively cutting costs and introducing products for more serious traders. The startup slashed U.S. trading fees by 90% and permanently eliminated all commissions on Borsa Istanbul trades in 2025.
With features like margin investing and advanced analytics already live, the company is preparing to launch derivatives trading, starting with U.S. options in September. This will bring more sophisticated, Wall Street-style products to local investors for the first time, wrapped in a friendly and intuitive interface.
Security is another priority. Midas is investing heavily in building infrastructure that meets global standards to ensure its platform remains safe and reliable as it scales. The involvement of global fintech investors with portfolios including TikTok, Revolut, and Coinbase signals strong confidence in Midas’ growth trajectory.
With fresh capital in hand, the startup plans to expand its product offering, enhance security measures, and eye regional growth beyond Turkey’s borders.
