As digital crime grows and investigations generate large volumes of data, law enforcement and security teams are increasingly turning to specialised software to manage complex cases. This shift is driving demand for platforms that can analyse information quickly and connect data from multiple sources.
Private equity firm Maven Capital Partners has invested £15 million in Chorus Intelligence, a company that develops investigation software used by law enforcement agencies, government organisations and corporations.
The investment was led by Maven’s UK Regional Buyout Fund II, marking the fourth deal completed by the fund, which focuses on growing businesses in the UK’s lower- to mid-market.
The new funding will be used to expand the company’s technology development, increase the use of artificial intelligence in its platform and support international growth. The company is also considering potential acquisitions as it seeks to expand in a market described as fragmented.
“The entire Chorus team are delighted to welcome Maven to Chorus. This investment from Maven marks an important milestone in our journey as we gear up for our next phase of growth. The expertise Maven bring in scaling high-growth technology companies will be invaluable as we accelerate our AI product roadmap, expand our global footprint and continue delivering exceptional value to our customers,” says Boyd Mulvey, Founder and Executive Chairman at Chorus
Builds digital investigation tools
Founded in 2011, Chorus Intelligence builds digital investigation tools designed to help analysts process large and complicated data sets. Its platform is used to organise information from multiple sources and support investigations into criminal activity.
More recently, the company launched the Chorus Intelligence Suite (CIS), a platform that enables teams to automate analysis of large volumes of data.
The system connects both structured and unstructured data, helping investigators identify suspects, detect networks and improve the quality of evidence during investigations.
The software is currently being adopted across the UK and the United States, where demand for digital investigation tools has increased alongside the rise of online and technology-enabled crime.
Maven’s buyout team has previously completed 38 platform buyouts and 26 exits, reporting an average three-times return on investment.
The firm typically invests between £10 million and £20 million in companies it believes can grow through product development, international expansion and strategic planning.
“Chorus is a fast-growing business which is operating in a market experiencing strong structural growth. Digital intelligence is becoming an essential component of modern investigations. Chorus has invested heavily in technology, with its next-generation CIS platform already delivering measurable efficiency gains and return on investment for customers in both the UK and the US. We are delighted to support the team as they continue to scale the business, expand its international presence and further enhance the platform’s capabilities to support its customers,” says Tom Purkis, Partner at Maven
