The fragmentation and inaccessibility of industrial data severely limit the potential of artificial intelligence in factories. Manufacturers face the daunting task of connecting, standardising, and making sense of data scattered across diverse legacy equipment, modern machinery, and multiple sites.

Litmus’s Industrial Edge Data Platform offers the solution by enabling fast, seamless connectivity between machines and cloud systems, transforming raw operational data into contextualised, AI-ready insights. This capability accelerates digital modernisation and Industrial AI adoption at scale with speed and reliability.

Today, Litmus secured strategic funding led by Insight Partners and Munich Re Ventures via HSB Fund II. The capital infusion will advance Litmus’ mission to make industrial data instantly accessible, contextualised, and AI-ready across global manufacturing enterprises.

Simplifying and unifying industrial data use across manufacturing enterprises

The company was founded by Vatsal Shah, John Younes, and Sacha Sawaya, with a clear mission: to simplify and unify industrial data use across manufacturing enterprises.

Shah shares with TFN, “The idea for Litmus really came from years of firsthand frustration working with industrial data. We saw how much valuable information was trapped in silos — hard to access, hard to trust, and even harder to operationalise. The promise of Industry 4.0 was there, but the reality was that teams were still spending most of their time just trying to make data usable. We wanted to build a platform that makes industrial data instantly actionable.”

The technology behind Litmus sets it apart by offering more than 250 pre-built native connectors to seamlessly integrate with a wide array of legacy and modern industrial equipment. It unifies data streams from edge devices to major cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS, creating a natively scalable data pipeline.

At the core of Litmus’s platform, Litmus Edge enables seamless integration with diverse industrial systems, real-time data processing to deliver immediate insights, and scalability to support growing industrial demands. It includes AI and machine learning capabilities that transform raw data into actionable insights for predictive maintenance and process optimisation, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing downtime.

The platform supports real-time analytics with rapid data connectivity, from connection to insight in as little as one hour, and allows centralised management of edge devices and applications at scale.

On competition, founders say, “There is no direct one-to-one comparison for Litmus in the market, but rather multiple vendors or custom stacks that companies try to piece together to create an industrial data foundation.

This fragmented landscape is what creates scalability challenges for companies trying to go from one plant to multiple, as you need to rebuild your stack each time with a number of different pieces that are not well integrated with one another. ”

What’s next?

Looking to the future, Litmus plans to double its investment in AI innovation at the edge and improve user experiences by delivering smarter interfaces and faster deployment pipelines.

Founders conclude, “While continuing to expand our foothold in manufacturing, we will be looking to expand to other Industries such as Oil and Gas, utilities, infrastructure, building automation, and others to be the edge data platform of choice for Industry. We continue to expand across North America, the Middle East and APAC, and will look to expand further in other markets such as Central and South America.”
