As environmental volatility and regulatory pressures accelerate, the first-mile,  where commodities and ingredients are sourced, has become a critical point of exposure for global supply chains. Over 60% of supply chain risks and costs originate in these places, yet they are often the least transparent and least understood.

London-based Treefera, an AI-powered data platform transforming supply chain transparency, brings visibility to this first-mile. It has raised $30 million in a Series B round to accelerate global growth and product development. The round was led by Notion Capital, with continued backing from Albion VC, Triple Point, and Twin Path Ventures, and new support from Endeit Capital

Why the first-mile matters now more than ever?

This funding round comes at a time when global supply chain disruptions are at an all-time high, with organisations facing an average of 14.8 disruption incidents annually and a 61% increase in force majeure declarations, according to recent industry reports.

Coming after a year of closing the $12 million Series A round, this fresh capital underscores investor confidence in Treefera’s mission to deliver real-time, first-mile visibility across complex global supply chains. The company plans to scale operations across North America, APAC, and Europe, while deepening its AI capabilities to meet rising demand for sustainable sourcing and compliance automation.

With the fresh capital, Treefera plans to expand its presence in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, develop real-time commodity tracking, enhanced geospatial analytics, and automated compliance reporting, and scale operations across agriculture, finance, automotive, and pharma sectors.

Treefera’s technology is especially timely as new regulations, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), coming into force in December 2025 and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, mandate unprecedented supply chain transparency. The platform aims to give enterprises the tools to see and act on what’s happening at the very root of their supply chains.

Behind Treefera: A husband-and-wife vision born from shared conviction

Founded in 2022 by Jonathan Horn and his wife Caroline Grey, Treefera was born out of a shared frustration with the lack of transparency and accountability at the very start of global supply chains. Their vision is to create a platform that could transform fragmented, hard-to-access environmental and commodity data into actionable intelligence for enterprise decision-makers.

Jonathan Horn, a former Managing Director at J.P. Morgan and Citi with a PhD in Fluid Dynamics, brings deep expertise in risk, AI, and data analytics. Caroline Grey, previously Chief Customer Officer at UiPath, adds extensive experience in scaling enterprise software and customer success.

Driven by complementary expertise and a shared mission to make nature-based supply chains more resilient and regenerative, the duo set out to build Treefera as a data fabric for the planet, a system that sees, understands, and improves how raw materials are sourced globally.

    Solving the first-mile blind spot

Treefera aims to eliminate blind spots by using satellite imagery, drone data, and adaptive AI. The platform delivers real-time sourcing, risk, and compliance insights, helping companies track the origin and sustainability of their materials at the plot level.

Treefera has mapped over one trillion trees worldwide, creating the largest environmental dataset of its kind and enabling plot-level monitoring and verification for carbon credits and sustainable sourcing.

Already used across industries such as agriculture, energy, pharmaceuticals, and insurance, Treefera’s technology allows customers to validate projects faster, monitor carbon footprints, and prepare for ever-tougher ESG regulations.

    Scaling globally with enterprise traction

Treefera’s client list includes industry names such as Amazon Rainforest Conservation, Royal Family Farms, Kita, Anew, ACCIONA, and Maple Credits. These partners use the platform to strengthen supply chain integrity, monitor regenerative practices, and ensure compliance with nature-based carbon standards.

Treefera’s platform integrates seamlessly with client analytics environments via APIs, making it a critical infrastructure layer for enterprises facing complex compliance requirements.

Treefera’s unique edge lies in its efficient AI architecture. By harnessing decentralised networks and opportunistic computing, it delivers high-performance insights with lower costs and environmental impact.

    Future outlook for Treefera

Treefera is poised to become the go-to intelligence layer for nature-based, first-mile supply chains. As climate risks and regulatory demands intensify, its AI-driven platform will be critical for enterprises seeking real-time sourcing, compliance, and carbon tracking.

With expansion plans across North America, Europe, and APAC, and a growing suite of predictive tools, Treefera is set to evolve from a visibility platform into a strategic engine for resilience. Its efficient, decentralised AI architecture also positions it as a leader in sustainable computing.

As global supply chains demand clarity and accountability, Treefera is shaping the future of transparent, regenerative commerce.

“Our world runs on nature-based commodities, yet information on the physical source of these assets remains largely invisible to the systems that depend on them,” said Jonathan Horn, Founder and CEO of Treefera. “Data informs the flow of capital, and at Treefera we equip enterprises with the clarity to strengthen supply chain resilience, secure future revenue, and scale the upside of regenerative practices. With defensible real-time insights on commodities, ingredients and carbon from the first-mile, businesses can not only have clearer sightlines into sourcing, but mitigate risk and ensure compliance. This backing led by Notion Capital enables us to accelerate our mission globally for the benefit of business and planet.”

“Treefera’s team has built a category-defining platform at the intersection of AI, data, and supply chain transparency,” said Patrick Norris, General Partner at Notion Capital. “In less than a year, Treefera has established itself as the trusted partner for enterprises navigating supply chain risks and carbon obligations. We are thrilled to be leading this round and support their vision to make resilient, decarbonised supply chains the global standard, underpinned by an approach that champions efficiency without compromise.”

“What makes Treefera exceptional is their ability to translate massive supply chain datasets into actionable climate insights. Their unique methodology aligns strongly with our investment focus on climate tech, and we’re proud to partner with them in their mission to provide enterprises with AI-powered supply chain transparency and decarbonisation solutions,” said Sara Resvik, Partner at Endeit Capital.
