Aiomics, a Berlin-based healthtech company, has closed a €2 million pre-seed funding round at a €10 million post-money valuation. The round was led by Vorwerk Ventures (€1.0 million), with notable participation from Calm/Storm (€0.5 million), Norrsken Evolve (€0.25 million), and Rule30 (£100k). Additionally, several renowned business angels contributed, including Konstantin Othmer (an early investor in Tesla, Android, and Canva), Nicolas Weber, Andrea Kranzer, and Markus Wild.

Addresses critical healthcare challenges

Europe faces a critical healthcare staffing gap, with projections indicating up to 4.1 million health worker shortages by 2030, and 1.2 million doctors, nurses, and midwives already missing as of 2022. A significant contributing factor to this crisis is the overwhelming documentation burden.

UK surveys show clinicians spending approximately 13.5 hours per week on documentation, about a third of their working time, often with additional unpaid hours. This administrative load not only reduces efficiency but also contributes to high retention risk, with a 2024 study reporting that roughly 29% of physicians and 33% of nurses are considering leaving their positions.

As detailed to TFN, Aiomics said that it was founded out of a dual motivation – personal experience and a recognised market need. The company further revealed that “Dr. Sven Jungmann, the co-founder, experienced first‑hand how paperwork erodes time, focus, and purpose at the bedside and became convinced software should empower clinicians rather than reduce them to clerks. Providers across Europe face chronic workforce gaps and rising documentation loads; there is urgent demand for tools that reduce admin time while improving data quality and compliance.”

AI-powered healthcare documentation platform

Aiomics directly addresses these issues with its AI-powered documentation platform for healthcare. “The platform captures speech, handwriting, and existing documents within a single validated workflow. It then performs completeness and consistency checks via a human-in-the-loop process, delivering structured, coded, and audit-secure data back into existing systems,” added the company.

This innovative approach reduces errors, accelerates reimbursements, and crucially, frees medical staff to focus more on patient care.

As one early adopter, a Head Therapist at a partner hospital, noted: “I used to choose between time for patients or for compliance. With Aiomics, I regain time and improve compliance.”

Founders with expertise

Aiomics was co-founded by a diverse team with complementary expertise, including Dr. Sven Jungmann, Dr. Nikita Tarasov, and Kirill Schitomirski, a lawyer by training with over five years of experience scaling the hospitality-tech platform numa group.

While the current full-time team of four does not yet include a woman, Aiomics is actively addressing this and is in late-stage discussions with a female product leader to join as their first hire, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive hiring and increasing representation at leadership levels as they grow.

Distinguished technology

What sets Aiomics apart is its focus on quality assurance and its European-first approach. Unlike many solutions that primarily offer speech-to-text transcription, Aiomics goes beyond by reviewing and quality-assuring patient records before generating outputs. Its multimodal capture, quality & safety layer, and structured outputs (automated coding and FHIR-based handoff) ensure that the data is validated, coded, and reconcilable, standing up to rigorous clinical, operational, and reimbursement scrutiny.

Built specifically for Europe, Aiomics aligns its product, deployment, and compliance choices with EU regulations and hospital IT realities, building towards ISO 13485/27001 and MDR alignment.

Future outlook

With the fresh capital, Aiomics plans to significantly expand its platform and scale to diverse care settings, from acute hospitals and rehabilitation centres to telemedicine providers.

The company aims to prove and publish measurable impacts, including reductions in documentation time, improvements in coding completeness, and accelerated days in accounts receivable with partner hospitals.

Over the next three to five years, Aiomics is also keen on localising for additional European markets, with a particular interest in Sweden, and gradually evolving its solutions for smaller clinics and telemedicine providers. The rapid adoption seen with their first large client, moving from initial conversation to go-live in approximately six months, underscores the urgent need and potential for AI to adapt to clinical realities faster than traditional software.

“The clinical software landscape is undergoing a fundamental transformation: artificial intelligence is driving the unbundling of existing systems. Unlike traditional software, AI can adapt much more granularly to the individual realities of different hospitals, departments, and specialities. This enables solutions like Aiomics to integrate faster and more seamlessly – with enormous potential for European healthcare,” said Sascha Günther, Partner at Vorwerk Ventures.
