Los Angeles startup’s customisable 3D visualisation engine aims to modernise $300B global jewellery market
Los Angeles-based jewellery-tech startup Gemist has secured $6 million in seed funding to expand its end-to-end software platform for custom jewellery sales. The round was led by Entrada Ventures, with participation from The Artemis Fund and Collide Capital, and brings the company’s total funding to $9 million.
Founded in 2021, Gemist offers a white-labelled, full-stack SaaS platform that allows jewellers to provide customers with a real-time, personalised design experience. The company’s proprietary 3D visualisation engine enables photorealistic rendering of custom jewellery pieces, helping customers confidently buy high-value items entirely online or in-store.
The funding will be used to expand product development across dynamic pricing, advanced rendering, and omnichannel commerce integrations.
Driving faster sales and higher-value orders
Gemist reports that customers design more than 14,000 custom jewellery pieces weekly through its platform, helping partner brands accelerate their sales cycle by up to 400% and increase average order value by 300%.
Despite being a $300 billion global industry, the jewellery sector remains technologically underserved, with most custom sales still processed through manual, time-intensive methods. These legacy systems often require hours of back-and-forth between customers and jewellers to generate CAD mock-ups – a process that introduces friction and risk of losing a sale.
Gemist solves this by giving retailers a digital toolkit that supports seamless customisation, real-time visualisation, and fast quoting, integrated into their existing e-commerce stack.
Michelle Berlinger, CEO of Berlinger Jewellery, commented, “We’ve tried other tools, but nothing comes close to the realism and responsiveness of the Customise Experience. It cut our design process from days to minutes, and helped customers confidently purchase high-ticket pieces without ever stepping into our showroom.”
Gemist SaaS platform tailored for jewellers
Gemist’s technology includes real-time 3D styling, dynamic pricing, and a fully brandable user interface that works across web, tablet, and mobile. It integrates easily with existing commerce infrastructure, helping jewellers increase sales both online and in physical showrooms.
Founder and CEO Madeline Fraser said, “We’re solving the biggest pain point in the industry: how to confidently sell jewellery online. Our platform gives every jewellery company the ability to let customers dream big – and buy without friction.”
Julie Henley, Partner at Entrada Ventures, added. “Gemist is bringing jewellery sales into the digital age. Consumers demand personalisation, transparency, and beautiful digital experiences. Gemist delivers all three, helping the industry grow without adding operational complexity.”
