Construction and real estate projects often face delays, with up to 70% happening before actual construction even begins. More often than not, mistakes, inconsistencies, and non-compliance are hidden deep within architectural plans that could burn a hole in project budgets, costing owners upwards of €100,000 per month, with costs climbing even higher if the site is operational.

Freeda, a Paris-based startup, is tackling this costly problem by combining artificial intelligence with expert human insight, Freeda’s platform spots hidden errors in construction blueprints within 48 hours.

Today, Freeda raised €3.4 million in a funding round led by Frst, with backing from Brick & Mortar Ventures. The fresh capital is fueling team growth and accelerating the platform’s roll-out across Europe, the UK, the US, and the Middle East.

Augustin Perraud, co-founder and COO, told TFN, “Freeda has raised $3.9M to date, at a $14.5M valuation.”

Solving a billion-euro problem in the construction sector

Freeda was launched in 2024 by Peter Starr, a former urban planner with degrees from University College London and HEC Paris. Starr spent years frustrated by recurring errors in construction blueprints during his time with AECOM, which sparked his drive to build a better solution.

Perraud explained to TFN, “Freeda was born from first-hand experience. Peter, our CEO and a former urban planner and architect, spent countless hours manually checking plans — a repetitive, error-prone process that often led to costly delays. He decided to build the tool he wished he’d had: one that automates plan verification and ensures precision from day one.”

Together with co-founders Augustin Perraud (COO), Charles Desbaux (CTO), and Mariano Rodriguez (CSO), the founding team wants to change how construction plans are reviewed, cutting costly errors early so projects can start on time and financial risks are minimised.

Bringing a global perspective and a passion for precision, they aim to make Freeda the gold standard for construction plan verification. Perraud added, “Unlike traditional software vendors, we deliver high-quality, expert-level outcomes where AI and human expertise work hand-in-hand. Freeda is built to deliver precision, reliability, and measurable results.”

Freeda’s platform blends AI tools, including computer vision and machine learning, trained and refined by real-world architects and engineers. The system reads complex construction drawings, catches compliance violations, finds inconsistencies, and flags deviations that a human eye might miss. It goes well beyond traditional OCR, deeply understanding plan topology, measurements, and regional regulatory details.

Already trusted by over ten clients who have sent 10,000 plans for review in 2025, Freeda is proving its unique ability to transform a manual, error-prone process into a more efficient, scalable one.

What’s next?

With this €3.4 million infusion, Freeda plans to hire more architects and engineers to train its AI’s nuanced understanding further and expand its AI development team to tackle increasing technical challenges.

The company expects to grow its tight-knit team from nine to twelve by the end of the year, while amplifying its market presence to become the construction industry’s trusted AI partner for precision plan review across the globe.

As Perraud noted, the end goal is to “make Freeda the undisputed global leader in plan analysis — powering projects as diverse as a 7-Eleven in Tokyo, a hospital in Riyadh, and a data center in Arizona.”
