Exclusive: Ex-Fiverr and Astria leaders launch Weavy with $4M to transform creative work with AI

The creative industry is undergoing a seismic transformation as artificial intelligence rapidly changes how images and videos are conceived and produced. Yet for many professionals, integrating AI into their workflows remains a major challenge. As Lior Albeck, founder and CEO of Weavy, explains in an exclusive conversation with TFN, “Working with AI in the professional creative space has proven clunky and frustrating — flicking between services and applications, downloading and uploading different results into traditional tools, all in an attempt to get the desired output.”

Even when achieving a satisfactory result, such as an image at a particular angle, Albeck notes, “it is often inflexible, unable to be adapted to client feedback.” Those who have mastered these tools struggle to share their knowledge, creating silos and further fragmentation.

This challenge is amplified by black-box models that lack the nuanced control and conceptual depth that professional creatives have developed throughout their careers. “Working with AI to generate beautiful visuals is easy, but making it do exactly what you want is very difficult,” Albeck adds.

Behind Weavy: Unified, controllable AI for creatives

Weavy was founded to bridge this gap, providing a transformative solution that respects the craft of design while enhancing it with AI capabilities. “Weavy isn’t just an image generator — it’s a comprehensive workflow platform that combines professional editing tools with thousands of AI models in one canvas,” says Albeck to TFN.

“Weavy integrates traditional editing techniques with AI generation, giving designers precise control. We capture the entire creative process as a visual, shareable workflow that doesn’t disappear into a black box like so much of AI. We’ve also built a Design App that allows these workflows to be deployed across organisations, ensuring brand consistency while scaling design capabilities. We’re not just helping create images—we’re transforming how design expertise scales across entire companies.”

The platform enables professionals to use advanced editing techniques — layer-based composition, matte manipulation, and 3D compositing — alongside leading AI models such as OpenAI, Kling, Flux, Runway, and Ideogram. This unified, node-based workspace allows users to move beyond simple prompts, refine results, and build reusable templates that ensure brand consistency and efficiency at scale.

Founders, team, and technology

Weavy’s founding team brings together decades of experience across creative technology, product management, and AI. Lior Albeck, CEO and co-founder, previously held several leadership roles at Fiverr, including Executive Director and Head of Marketplace Supply, overseeing hundreds of thousands of creative freelancers and agencies and driving strategic growth for the global marketplace. Jonathan Alumot, CTO and co-founder, led R&D at the AI startup Perfect and managed engineering teams at Fiverr and SensesPass. Jonathan Gur-Zeev, CPO and co-founder, was Product Director at Fiverr and CEO of LookAt, a creative collaboration platform, following years as a VFX artist. Itay Schiff, CCO, was co-founder and co-CEO of Astria, an AI-powered image generation platform, and previously held creative leadership roles at Gravity Creative Tech and Atrea, with over 20 years in post-production and branding.

The current Weavy team comprises ten people across Israel, Portugal, Denmark, and Turkey. Their backgrounds include a PhD in computer graphics (Asger, previously at Fable), a multidisciplinary designer teaching at Bezalel (Gal), and others with deep roots in the VFX and creative community. “Even though we are small, we are international and spread across four different countries, coming from the VFX/creative community and building for them. This is one of our superpowers,” says Albeck.

Industry validation and the road ahead

Weavy’s approach has already resonated with major enterprise clients, including NVIDIA, Wix, eToro, Taboola, and CrazyLabs. The Head of Design Guild at Wix, Niv Farchi, credits Weavy with delivering “a system to standardise creativity by combining pro editing control with reusable, AI-powered workflows” and helping address the challenge of ensuring brand consistency and collaboration as teams grow and AI tools proliferate.

The company recently raised $4 million in seed funding, led by Entree Capital and with participation from Designer Fund, Founder Collective, and Fiverr founder Micha Kaufman. Weavy’s investors include Avi Eyal from Entree (an early investor in Monday.com), Ben Blumenrose from Designer Fund (who was among the first designers at Facebook), and David Frankel from Founder Collective (an early investor in Suno, Airtable, Uber, and others).

Looking forward, Albeck is optimistic: “The enthusiasm with which the design community has embraced us demonstrates that we have a great business, and we plan to grow it, continuing to adapt and meet the needs of creative professionals with our Artistic Intelligence platform.”
