Businesses frequently lack full network visibility and management across branches, campuses, and the cloud. To counter that, Zero trust, a security concept popularised by Google LLC, focuses on transferring access controls from the perimeter to individual devices and users, as opposed to traditional firewall-based security. The fundamental idea is to allow employees to operate safely from anywhere without using a traditional virtual private network.

Meanwhile, Lumeus.ai, a zero-trust networking firm, is launching today with $6M in seed funding. The round was led by Tola Capital and saw participation from pre-seed investors Emergent Ventures and First Rays Ventures.

Expansion plans

The money will be used to expand the company’s product and go-to-market teams in the United States and India.

Lumeus.ai, founded by Satish Veerapuneni and Saurabh Jain, provides a Universal Zero Trust platform that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to assist organisations boost visibility from campus to cloud, authorise resource access, and segment network traffic to avoid lateral movement. Because the solution connects to current infrastructure without the use of an agent, organisations experience value from the start. The startup was founded in July 2021 and headquartered in San Jose, CA.

“We make it easy for our customers to visualize their network, authorize access, and segment traffic in order to reduce the risk of breach and improve experiences at a lower TCO (total cost of ownership) and all with one unified policy engine,” said Satish Veerapuneni, Co-Founder and CEO of Lumeus.ai. “We’re thrilled to have Tola Capital on board as a top-tier partner with its expertise in the IT and Security space.”

“There is an early opportunity right now for AI + Zero Trust networking to secure organizations in the cloud era. The team at Lumeus.ai has the right DNA to tackle this market and we’re excited to guide its go-to-market efforts,” said Will Coggins, Vice President at Tola Capital.

Lumeus.ai’s new platform helps customers in providing Zero Trust Network Access, Zero Trust Segmentation & Application Experience Management with no agents installed on endpoints, further allowing it to be easily installed on top of an organization’s existing infrastructure.

It also consolidates three or more management consoles, reducing complexity for teams and achieving cost savings of up to 50% while leveraging your existing infrastructure.

The use of AI to profile network and application behaviour in order to find anomalies across domains between the network and each application is another significant feature of Lumeus.ai. Lumeus.ai also allows teams to develop consistent policies for a variety of zero trust use cases.

Lumeus.ai will present other AI use cases, such as proposing which zero trust policies to deploy based on traffic and network fingerprinting.
