Employers around the world are dealing with problems such as AI-generated deepfakes, fake profiles, shorter job tenure, and compliance issues in a global workforce.
Veremark says these challenges add up to a $120 billion trust gap each year. The London company tackles these risks with worldwide background checks, whistleblower tools, and blockchain credentials such as Verepass to help keep hiring honest.
Veremark just raised $26 million in a Series B round led by Gresham House Ventures, with participation from Samaipata, ACF Investors, Stage 2 Capital, and Salica. The funding will go toward developing new products, improving AI, and expanding the business.
This investment comes after Veremark reported 300% revenue growth in 2025 and acquired Agenda Screening.
Monitoring employees on an ongoing basis
Daniel Callaghan, Angus Bankes, and Daniel Braithwaite founded Veremark in 2020 after realising that scattered background checks were not enough to address today’s hiring risks. Veremark aims to make workplace integrity measurable by bringing together screening, whistleblowing, and portable credentials.
Veremark offers instant global checks, such as criminal, employment, sanctions, and credit screening in 180 countries, along with anonymous whistleblowing and reporting. The Verepass blockchain passport, which candidates control, helps avoid repeated background checks.
What sets Veremark apart is its end-to-end services that go beyond hiring, such as rescreening and ongoing risk monitoring. Candidates own their data, which speeds up the process and keeps it more private, and the company offers AI-resistant verification for large organisations.
Veremark stands out from competitors like HireRight and Sterling, which only offer background checks and lack full lifecycle or whistleblowing features. Checkr mainly focuses on US hiring and has limited global and compliance options. Veremark delivers a comprehensive culture and compliance solution, along with portable credentials.
What’s next?
The new investment will strengthen Veremark’s AI defences against fake profiles, support the development of new tools, and help the company expand globally, building on its success in the UK.
Now, the company has more than 200 employees across seven offices in the UK, UAE, Singapore, the US, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. They serve 6,000 clients, including OVO Energy and Schneider Electric.
