Treble, an Icelandic sound simulation technology startup, has landed €11 million in Series A funding. This round follows the €8 million investment the company secured back in 2022.
The round was led by KOMPAS VC which recently backed Optiml and Again. It also saw participation from Icelandic VC Frumtak Ventures, which recently invested in Sidekick Health and PLAIO, the European Investment Council (EIC), Omega, strategic partners St. Gobain & L-Acoustics, as well as experienced angel investors.
Funds utilisation
The investment will be used to expand the Treble team, enhance R&D efforts, forge new enterprise clients, and tap into new markets.

Additionally, we’ll grow our impact in the voice technology and AI sectors to advance speech recognition and other audio-based applications. These markets align with our core strengths and offer substantial growth potential.”

What challenge does it tackle?
Designing sound for buildings, cars, and tech products has traditionally been an expensive undertaking because of a lack of easy-to-use and accurate simulation solutions that can be integrated into the design process. When buildings or products fail to meet the necessary acoustic standards, adjustments can be time-consuming and costly.
The World Health Organisation has stated that noise is the second most harmful environmental stressor affecting human health. With the rapid growth of AI-based audio models in voice technology, generative AI, and augmented reality, the lack of audio training data has become a major bottleneck.
Treble was founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Dr Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen to address this challenge.

Powered by the company’s proprietary simulation technology benchmarked to be more than 100x faster than existing sound simulation solutions, it enables a wide range of industries to bring down costs and realise better-sounding environments, products, and services. Within a year since its launch, Treble is being used by some of the largest and most prestigious companies in the world within tech, buildings, audio, and automotive, including three of the five leading global tech giants and the world’s largest engineering consulting firms.
Talking to TFN, Einarsson stated “Our team currently consists of 35 people, but we plan to scale it to 45 by hiring in both the commercial and R&D departments.”
