The $200B+ patent industry drowns in tedious manual work, costing IP teams endless hours on spreadsheets and reviews. Solve Intelligence automates the full patent lifecycle in a secure, Word-compatible browser editor, cutting time by 60-80% and already elevating quality for 400+ teams across six continents, including DLA Piper, Perkins Coie, Siemens, and Avery Dennison.
Just six months after a $12M Series A, the company raised $40M in Series B funding, co-led by Visionaries and 20VC, with Thomson Reuters, Y Combinator, Operator Collective (led by ex-Cisco IP chief Mallun Yen), and angels like the founders of Tinder, Canva, Deel, Ironclad, Base44, Cleo, Hugging Face, Pigment, and Higgsfield, as well as Kevin Johnson, who founded Quinn Emanuel’s IP litigation practice.
This brings the total capital to $55M amid 10x ARR growth to eight figures and profitability, with more cash generated than raised.
Empower global IP professionals with secure, efficient AI
Founded in 2023 by Dr Chris Parsonson, Angus Parsonson, and Dr Sanj Ahilan, Solve Intelligence aims to streamline collaboration between in-house counsel and law firms across prosecution, filings, and, now, litigation. In other words, the trio wants to forge the “Copilot for IP law” as the unified system of record.
Chris Parsonson, CEO & co-founder, tells TFN, “We recognised a clear market need for AI systems that truly understand the structure and logic of patents and can support professionals across every step of the process. By combining frontier research backgrounds with patent law experience, they set out to build an AI platform purpose-built for the realities of patent drafting, prosecution and analysis.”
At its core, Solve Intelligence runs on custom AI tuned just for patents, tackling every field from biological sequences and chemical formulas to software and hardware setups. It provides users with tweakable templates, complete source citations, clear step-by-step logic, and top-tier SOC 2 security, ensuring client data stays locked away and never feeds outside models.
Parsonson elaborates, “Solve Intelligence has developed proprietary AI models specialised for patents, rather than adapting general-purpose language models for legal tasks. This specialisation allows the system to understand the structure, reasoning and constraints unique to patent drafting, prosecution and litigation.”
Standout features include coverage from idea gathering to a 265% jump in weekly tasks per user, plus the fresh ‘Charts’ feature that generates invalidity or standard-essential patent charts, scans entire portfolios, and lets firms bake in their own styles for team-wide reuse.
Unlike Qatent, Paximal, and Patlytics, Solve Intelligence stands out with its prosecution-to-litigation span, Microsoft tie-ins, worldwide filing support, and high marks on G2 and CB Insights for reliability and extras.
What about diversity?
When we asked about diversity, Parsonson says, “We still have a small team and don’t have formal diversity statistics at this stage, but the team combines a diverse set of backgrounds across AI research, software engineering and patent law, with technical staff from institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford, UCL and Imperial and legal experts from leading US and European firms including Hoffmann Eitle, Dentons, Fish & Richardson and D Young.”
He adds, “We’re focused on hiring patent attorneys across technical domains (mechanical, life sciences, chemical structures, software, electrical, etc) and combining them with AI PhD researchers and full-stack engineers. As the company scales across the US and Europe, building a diverse team remains a core priority.”
What’s next?
Paronson concludes, “Our broader mission is to build the go-to AI-powered platform for inventors, in-house IP teams, and outside legal counsels to collaborate across every aspect of the patent process. “
“The depth of their product is remarkable, and we believe Solve has a real shot at becoming the AI-native platform for intellectual property — the Copilot for IP law — powering every stage of the patent lifecycle across enterprises, law firms, and inventors globally. Solve can unify a fragmented ecosystem into one workflow and data layer that becomes the system of record for how patents are created, prosecuted, and managed,” said Robert Lacher, Founding Partner at Visionaries.
