Dementia is becoming one of the world’s most pressing health challenges. By 2030, around 78 million people are expected to live with the condition, and half of the global population will experience its impact either as a patient or as an unpaid carer.

Yet support systems remain slow, reactive, and heavily dependent on families who often struggle without the right tools. Here’s where London-based startup Punto Health comes into the scene.

London-based health tech startup Punto Health, which specialises in dementia and cognitive care, has raised $2.7M in a Seed funding round, co-led by Shilling VC and Plus Partners, with participation from Exceptional Ventures, Heartfelt, Fondo Bolsa Social, and ABAC Nest.

The funding will accelerate product development and commercial expansion across the UK and Spain. The latest funding round builds on a $840,000 pre-seed investment.

Tech-powered answer to a growing global problem

Founded in 2023 in London by engineers Anna Muñoz-Farré and Jack Eckersley, Punto Health is a digital health company developing AI-powered tools for early detection and personalised support in dementia and cognitive decline.

Its platform combines digital cognitive assessments, continuous monitoring, and tailored guidance for patients, families, and clinicians.

In the UK and Spain, Punto is working with Ace Alzheimer Centre Barcelona, Enfield Memory Service at North London NHS FT, Greenwich Memory Service at NHS Oxleas FT, Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, and Hospital General de Granollers.

“Dementia is never just one person’s disease. It affects entire families, and carers often carry an enormous invisible burden,” said Anna Muñoz-Farré, CEO and co-founder of Punto Health. “We are building technology that turns a reactive, crisis-driven system into proactive, personalised support that fits into people’s real lives.”

A full-stack platform for early detection and everyday support

Punto Health describes its system as the “operating system for dementia care”, built around three key products:

  • PuntoTest: An AI-powered, speech-based digital test for assessing cognitive impairment in adults. It supports healthcare professionals and researchers with objective, quantifiable metrics of cognitive function, assisting with early detection, remote monitoring, and clinical triage at scale.
  • PuntoCare: A companion app offering personalised daily plans covering cognitive exercises, physical activity, nutrition, symptom tracking, and lifestyle guidance. It includes an AI-based virtual companion that only provides clinically validated information, offering reassurance without replacing professionals.
  • PuntoClinic: A dashboard for clinicians that pulls together patient-reported outcomes and biomarker data, helping teams make more informed decisions and simplifying research workflows such as pre-screening for clinical trials.

Unlike general apps like MindMate (cognitive games/reminders) or Lumosity (brain training), Punto integrates full-stack clinician-patient-carer tools with speech AI, distinct from standalone diagnostics such as Cognivue or Altoida.

Clinical partnerships

Punto Health’s platform is co-designed and clinically validated with Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, one of Europe’s leading centres for dementia diagnosis and research. Together, they are developing a digital biomarker that uses speech to detect subtle changes in cognitive function.

In Spain, PuntoTest has been tested in a rapid screening programme involving more than 1,500 adults aged 50+ across ten pharmacies in Barcelona.

Additionally, PuntoCare is being piloted across major UK and Spanish healthcare institutions, including North London NHS FT, NHS Oxleas FT, Hospital del Mar, and Hospital General de Granollers.

More than 200 users aged 60 to 90 have completed more than 30,000 activities, with two-thirds reporting improved confidence in managing daily life.

Tomás Güida, Investment Manager at ShillingVC, adds, “Innovation in this area has lagged behind for too long. Punto Health is changing that. Anna and Jack are developing a clinically rigorous AI platform that provides families and healthcare professionals with tools that set a new standard for early detection and personalised care for neurodegenerative diseases. We believe this team is uniquely positioned to expand a solution that will define a category in the healthcare system.”

Oriol Juncosa, Founding Partner of Plus Partners, comments: “Cognitive impairment and dementia are among the greatest health challenges of our time. Punto Health is building the operating system that will diagnose earlier, guide families and carers, and modernise the entire infrastructure of cognitive care. We are proud to back Anna and Jack, a world-class team bringing the expertise, resilience, and empathy this problem demands.”
