Quantum Systems, a German drone startup has netted €63.6 million in Series B funding. This brings the total amount of funding for the drone manufacturer to over €100 million. This round follows the investment it raised back in 2022.

HV Capital and DTCP led the round. It also saw participation from Project A, Thiel Capital, ScaleUp Fonds Bayern, Omnes Capital, and Airbus Ventures.

Quantum Systems intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Innovator in dual-use drone-robotics

Founded by Armin Busse and Florian Seibel in 2015 in Munich, Quantum Systems is an innovator in dual-use drone-robotics offering state-of-the-art multi-sensor technology for government and commercial clients.

It specialises in the development, design, and production of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS). The company’s range of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) sUAS are built to maximise range and versatility and provide operators with a seamless user experience. By integrating cutting-edge software capabilities like edge computing and real-time AI-powered data processing, Quantum Systems is building next-generation UAS for clients in security, defence, public safety, commercial, and geospatial operations across Europe.

Customers can use Quantum’s UAS in a variety of use cases, including search and rescue operations after natural disasters, automated railway inspections after severe weather, and aerial data intelligence on large-scale construction operations.

AI-powered aerial robotics

Quantum Systems recently secured a significant contract with the German Armed Forces for Vector reconnaissance drones, strengthening European security. Partnering with Airbus Defence and Space, backed by the German Ministry of Defense, Quantum Systems advances tactical drones with AI and swarming technologies.

The company continues to support Ukraine through multiple deliveries of Vector drones, driving innovations in AI capabilities, endurance, and further system architecture integrations to the battle management systems.

Intending to lead AI-powered drone-robotics globally, Quantum Systems’ strategy emphasises a family of systems with deep integration, a unified software stack, and Drone Ports development.

“In the face of ever-evolving global challenges, Quantum Systems recognizes the need for a bottom-up flexible approach. This approach fosters innovation and adaptability, enabling Europe to sustain its democratic values while embracing disruptive technologies that drive progress,” said Florian Seibel, co-founder and CEO at Quantum Systems.

“We are excited to back Quantum Systems’ vision for global leadership in AI-powered drone-robotics. The team has showcased their ability to sustain a technological advantage. We look forward to working with the team as they expand their product offering,” added Christian Saller, General Partner at HV Capital.

“Recent geopolitical events have made it crystal clear that we as venture capital investors can no longer afford to ignore the complexities of defense technology, which includes dual-use concepts with multiple applications. That’s why we’re proud to continue to back Quantum Systems in becoming a major dual-use player that strengthens European and Western tech resilience,” stated Uwe Horstmann, General Partner at Project A Ventures.
