Joe McDonald is CEO and co-founder of tem, the technology company building the infrastructure a new generation of energy utilities will run on, built around the true cost of the electron. A serial founder with over 12 years of experience in the energy sector, Joe co-founded tem in 2021, motivated by the inefficiencies he'd seen first-hand in how energy is bought and sold.
Prior to tem, Joe was a founding employee at energy startup Limejump, where he led the development of virtual power plants that allowed small, renewable energy assets to access the same market opportunities as larger utilities – work that steered the company to a successful exit to Shell in 2019 and earned him a spot on Forbes' 30 Under 30 Europe list.
