French startup Dust has raised a $16 million Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital. The round saw participation from  existing investors, such as XYZ, GG1, Connect Ventures, Seedcamp (which invested in Antavo and Sidekick) and Motier Ventures.

This investment will be used for enterprise AI assistants connected to date.

Ability to create AI assistants

Dust was co-founded by Stanislas Polu, a former research engineer at OpenAI and Gabriel Hubert. They were among the first 150 employees to join Stripe after it acquired their previous startup.

The company is designed to provide its tools of programming in the hands of all teams. It can define a jargon for non-technical teams, elaborate a spreadsheet and help use it in a presentation and more. Dust uses LLMs to go beyond the usual experiences and supercharges works for all teams.

With Dust, companies can create AI assistants personalised to their needs and share them with their employees, enabling them to work more efficiently.

What makes the company different?

Unlike ChatGPT, which is a consumer-facing model, Dust AI assistants are more enterprise-centric. These models use the company’s data and documents.

The French startup also believes that companies should have multiple AI assistants instead of just one. The startup works with the belief that each AI assistant should focus on a specific set of tasks and provide solutions to common problems faced by a particular team.

To be more specific, Dust offers a particular AI assistant for support teams. This will be aware of both knowledge base content and previous support interactions. This will help new members of the support team when they face a question. Likewise, HR teams can have an AI assistant to answer questions about corporate policies. It will create another one for drafting job descriptions.

How can we forget sales? The French startup helps sales teams generate draft emails depending on CRM data.
