As companies adopt more software tools and cloud services, managing internal IT requests has become increasingly complex.

Even simple tasks often involve multiple tickets, approvals, and coordination across different teams.

Many businesses struggle to keep track of systems, users, and access policies, leading to slow response times and overloaded IT departments.

A new startup, Standard Template Labs, aims to solve that problem using artificial intelligence.

The company officially launched with $49 million in seed funding, in a round co-led by ICONIQ and CRV.

A new approach to IT service management

Founded by Amit Agarwal, Standard Template Labs is building what it calls an AI-first service management platform, designed to automatically resolve enterprise IT requests rather than simply track them.

Agarwal previously spent more than 13 years helping build Datadog, where he served as President and Chief Product Officer and played a key role in scaling the company into a global enterprise software provider.

The platform developed by Standard Template Labs uses AI to interpret requests and automatically trigger the workflows needed to fix them.

At the core of the system is a continuously updated digital twin of the company’s IT environment. This model maps relationships between employees, the software they use, internal services, and the policies governing them.

By maintaining this contextual map, the platform can resolve many IT issues automatically. Tasks that previously required several teams and days of coordination could potentially be completed in minutes.

“IT service management was revolutionised two decades ago, but then the industry stopped evolving,” said Amit Agarwal, CEO and Founder of STLabs. “The best IT professionals today spend most of their time navigating systems, chasing approvals, and re-gathering context that should already be at their fingertips. Adding a chatbot to a decades-old platform doesn’t make it intelligent—it just gives people a faster way to file the same tickets.”

According to the company, the goal is to combine deep enterprise software expertise with a new generation of AI-focused builders capable of rethinking how IT operations work.

Early enterprise focus

Standard Template Labs is initially targeting enterprise IT, security, engineering, and shared services teams that are overwhelmed by manual coordination and ticket-based workflows.

The startup is already working with early enterprise partners and plans to use the new funding to expand hiring, accelerate product development, and deploy its platform with large organisations.

“The enterprise service management market represents a massive opportunity where innovation has stagnated for years,” said Matt Jacobson, Partner at ICONIQ. “When Amit proposed this concept, we loved the magnitude of ambition and impact. His unparalleled experience building and scaling enterprise infrastructure software, combined with a crystal-clear vision for leveraging AI, made supporting Standard Template Labs from day zero an easy choice.”

“Having been an early investor in Datadog, I saw up close how Amit helped shape a company that became one of the defining enterprise platforms of its generation,” said Murat Bicer, General Partner at CRV. “Once you’ve built at that scale, you don’t aim small. Standard Template Labs reflects that ambition in the scale of the challenge they’re taking on and the calibre of the people committed to solving it.”
