Zendesk co-founder invests in Swedish AI startup Lemonado’s $1.4M seed funding round

Lemonado-team

Lemonado, a Sweden-founded no-code platform that empowers non-developers to create custom business applications, has secured $1.4M in seed funding. Nordic venture capital firm, node.vc, led the round, with participation from Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk and partner at Nordic Makers, among others. Chris Albinsson, partner at node.vc, will join Lemonado’s board.

Empowering non-developers to build business software

Lemonado is designed for individuals and businesses that work with data but lack the budget or skills to hire development teams. The platform enables users to automate workflows, manage data visualisation, and streamline business processes without writing any code. By utilising AI to automate repetitive tasks, Lemonado aims to replace traditional software suites with AI-native tools, making modern workflows more efficient.

Innovative approach to data handling

Lemonado generates applications with rich user interfaces and integrates datasets across multiple sources, such as Hubspot, Postgres, and Google Sheets. The platform supports continuous computation of live data, handling millions of entries, and offers easily implementable functionalities through a ‘building block’ mechanism.

Meeting market demands

Lemonado addresses a significant market need, particularly in the US, its largest market. The funding will be used to drive product-led growth, expand technological development, and enhance community engagement. This includes hiring senior developers, growth hackers, and content marketers to further develop the platform.

Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk and partner at Nordic Makers, shared his enthusiasm for Lemonado’s potential: “With my own deep understanding of product development, Lemonado’s vision for the future of work is both compelling and exciting. There are parallels between their founding journey and my own with Zendesk – seeing the problem first-hand and getting on with building the solution. Nordic Makers is excited to support Albert, Daniel, and Rikard on their journey.”

Customer success stories

Current customers include The Octopus Club, WorkTripp, and Planhat. Erik Holm, CFO of Planhat, praised the platform: “Our experience with Lemonado has been exceptional. Non-technical teams are enabled to use data and leverage AI in a new way and we’re now looking to integrate Lemonado across various other functions within Planhat.”

Founders’ backgrounds

Lemonado was founded by Albert Lundberg (CEO), Rikard Javelind, and Daniel Angelhoff. The idea for Lemonado stemmed from their experiences with their previous venture, Passbuy, which scaled to over 100,000 users but ultimately didn’t grow fast enough to succeed. Lundberg, a former product manager, recognised the inefficiencies in handling large datasets, while Javelind and Angelhoff experienced increasing demands on their time as developers in fast-growing organisations.

Albert Lundberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Lemonado, remarked: “Conventional ways of working with data are outdated and cumbersome. We’re in the decade of data, we must incorporate more automation in order to maintain and enhance productivity. Lemonado exists to give people who are the closest to the problem the tools to solve that very issue. We are here to empower people to build the solution, free of code and the need for a developer, using company data to automate work. Lemonado is the most flexible tool in its space. It’s been really exciting to see our users start their projects with small use cases and expand them in ways we had never imagined. Thank you to our investors, node.vc, Nordic Makers, Antler, and angels, for supporting our vision to help people work faster and smarter.”
