The Nordic tech scene has long been home to exceptional engineering talent, yet the region has faced challenges in scaling startups to global tech giants due to a shortage of focused early-stage investment.  Inception Fund, a venture capital firm founded in 2018 and led by Oliver Molander and Erik Lindblad, aims to empower technically gifted founders from day zero, providing rapid access to funding and a network that truly understands the nuances of AI and emerging technologies.

Inception Fund, backed by luminaries such as Taavet Hinrikus and the founders of Lovable, Legora, and Aris Machina, today closed a €21 million micro fund, targeting the top 0.1% of technical founders from Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and the broader New Nordics. The fund’s investment targets AI and deep tech startups at inception and pre-seed stages, combining capital injections of €100,000 to €500,000 with personalised hands-on mentorship.

What distinguishes Inception Fund is its dedication to deeply technical founders creating AI-first products. Unlike generalist venture funds that often prioritise later-stage metrics, Inception Fund moves quickly to provide early runway for those developing complex and innovative solutions. The fund stands out for its founder-friendly and efficient investment terms, access to mentorship from seasoned AI veterans, and a curated network of Nordic tech leaders.

Since the fund’s launch, Inception Fund has already made more than ten investments in promising startups, including Tzafon, Vesence, Marly AI, Vantel, Scape, and Ethira.

Looking forward, Inception Fund aims to back dozens of transformative startups across the New Nordics as it drives the region’s AI sector forward. The founders see this as an opportunity to rewrite the European tech story by creating a thriving ecosystem of Nordic AI pioneers.
