The AR/VR (XR) sector faces a persistent challenge: delivering high-performance, scalable, and secure immersive applications across a fragmented device landscape. Most XR devices struggle with the heavy computational demands of industrial 3D data, which limits their adoption and scalability, especially in enterprise settings. Hololight aims to change that.
In an exclusive interview with TFN, Hololight explains, “More than 50% of XR pilots in the industry fail to scale due to performance or IT concerns. Pixel streaming solves this by rendering applications on external servers and streaming only the pixels — securely and device-agnostic— independent of the device’s capacity. Our solution enables companies to scale XR workflows with high fidelity without compromising data integrity or requiring specialised hardware.”
Hololight’s answer is proprietary XR pixel-streaming technology, which streams AR/VR applications from centralised servers, either cloud or on-premises, directly to any compatible device. This eliminates device limitations, ensures high data security, and delivers seamless, high-quality experiences regardless of hardware.
The company’s latest €10 million funding round, led by Cipio Partners with participation from Bayern Kapital, Direttissima Growth Partners, EnBW New Ventures, and Future Energy Ventures, is set to accelerate the global rollout of Hololight’s flagship product, Hololight Stream.
As the company puts it, “This investment reinforces our leadership in immersive streaming software and enables the global rollout of our flagship product, Hololight Stream.” When asked about its current valuation and total funding, Hololight stated, “We are not disclosing the current valuation or the total funding raised to date at this time.”
The story behind Hololight: breaking through XR’s biggest barriers
Hololight was founded in 2015 by four individuals passionate about immersive technology and industrial transformation. CEO Florian Haspinger, who has a background in physics and mechanical engineering, focuses on aligning Hololight’s vision and products with market needs and future opportunities. CTO Alexander Werlberger, a physicist and mathematician, developed the prototypes of the XR streaming core and laid the technical foundation for the Hololight Stream.
CSO Luis Bollinger, with a background in business administration, is a seasoned sales leader who drives Hololight’s global expansion and oversees strategic partnerships with resellers. COO Susanne Haspinger, also a physicist, played an instrumental role in shaping the early organisational structure and operational processes and led both the HR department and legal affairs. Together, the founders have built a team that, in their words, “thrives at the intersection of deep tech, enterprise needs, and a shared belief in the future of XR.”
The company’s mission is rooted in a simple but powerful insight: “The vision for Hololight was born out of a simple but powerful insight: XR cannot scale unless rendering is decoupled from the device. This was both a technical and strategic barrier for enterprises wanting to adopt AR/VR. We saw that pixel streaming — if done right, efficiently, and universally — could unlock XR at scale.”
Hololight also recognised a deeper opportunity: “Hololight’s technology fundamentally solves the problem of bulky, heavy XR headsets. By shifting compute power off the device, we enable slimmer, lighter, and more affordable wearables, paving the way for real consumer use cases.”
As the team summarises, “Hololight is more than an industrial solution — it’s the key to widespread XR adoption across both enterprise and consumer markets. That’s why we built Hololight: to make any AR/VR application accessible as easily as Netflix streams video.”
Hololight is dedicated to building an inclusive and international team. As of 2025, approximately 15% of the team identifies as female, including in development, marketing, and leadership roles. The company represents 17 nationalities, with backgrounds spanning physics, computer science, economics, design, and more. Hololight is dedicated to building an inclusive environment that reflects the global nature of its technology.
As the company notes, “Diversity fuels innovation, and we continue to invest in it — especially as we grow internationally.” Female leaders at Hololight offer this advice to others in the tech industry: “Don’t wait to be perfect or fully ready. Jump in, ask questions, challenge norms. Tech needs more diverse voices shaping the future.”
Streaming the future: what makes Hololight’s tech stand out
Hololight’s proprietary XR pixel streaming is designed to meet the highest industry demands and stands out in several ways. The technology enables applications to be streamed to any AR/VR device without loss of performance, and centralised streaming ensures the highest level of data security, which is critical for enterprise adoption.
The new Hololight Stream Runtime enables the seamless streaming of any OpenXR-compatible app, such as Autodesk VRED, Blender, or Keyshot, with a single click, eliminating the need for additional development work. Hololight’s approach enables companies to scale AR/VR deployments efficiently, sending data from the cloud or on-premises infrastructure. The company collaborates with major technology players, including NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Snap, Meta, and others.
The Hololight product ecosystem comprises Hololight Stream Runtime, which enables the streaming of any OpenXR app with a single click; Hololight Hub, an orchestration layer for enterprise IT that facilitates deployment across on-premises, edge or cloud environments; and Hololight Space, an OEM-focused engineering and design solution integrated with Hololight Hub.
The technology is device-and engine-agnostic, supporting Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, HoloLens, HTC, Pico, and Snap Spectacles, and works with both Unreal Engine and Unity Engine.
What’s next for Hololight?
With over 150 international customers and partners, Hololight is poised for significant expansion. The company plans to use its new funding for the global rollout of Hololight Hub, Hololight Space, and Hololight Stream (SDK & Runtime) to strengthen its role as the backbone of XR infrastructure software for all types of applications and to deepen technology partnerships with companies such as Snap, Autodesk VRED, Unity, Unreal, and Meta. As Hololight puts it, “Our long-term goal: Hololight’s XR pixel streaming becomes the global standard for the XR market—just like video streaming did a decade ago.”
The company sees this funding as more than just capital. “This funding is more than capital — it’s a validation of a paradigm shift. As AR/VR hardware evolves, the underlying infrastructure software must evolve accordingly. Hololight is delivering that software.” The mission is clear: “Anyone who wants to scale XR in the real world needs pixel streaming. Hololight’s XR pixel streaming has become the global standard for the XR market. We’re excited to lead that transformation and invite partners, customers, and investors to join us in making immersive computing ubiquitous.”
Hololight is at the forefront of solving XR’s toughest challenges, enabling seamless, secure, and scalable AR/VR experiences for enterprises and, soon, consumers worldwide. With fresh funding, a diverse team, and a clear vision, Hololight is well-positioned to make pixel streaming the backbone of the XR revolution.
