Wunder Mobility, a Hamburg-based mobility technology company, has secured additional funding from several investors, including KCK, Blumberg Capital, and others, totalling €12M.

The latest funding positions the German company as the highest funded provider of software and hardware solutions for vehicle sharing operators with fleets of e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mopeds, and cars.

“This sizable investment underscores the commitment of our investors to our strategy of accelerating clean and affordable mobility through sharing. It will extend our lead in micro-mobility software and enable us to provide the most advanced technology and support to ambitious operators in the space,” said Wunder Mobility founder and CEO Gunnar Froh.

Utilising mobility market

According to McKinsey & Company, the micro-mobility sector is expected to be a $300B to $500B market by 2030. Further, the number of people using shared mobility accelerated significantly during the pandemic, and growth rates in the sector are expected to remain high in the coming years. In fact, several companies like Bird, TIER Mobility, Urent, Superpedestrian and others are striving towards capturing a chunk of micro-mobility market.

And here’s where the German company plans to utilise the market.

“Consumer appetite for shared mobility services continues to increase, and our customers are experiencing strong growth with the help of our technology platform. We have seen 45% year-on-year growth in platform revenue in the first half of 2022 compared to the first half of last year. We will continue to make sizable investments into our software and customer service over the coming years to support the success of all the operators we work with,” says Froh.

At the beginning of 2014, Gunnar Froh and Sam Baker saw an untapped opportunity in the international mobility market. Consequently, they assembled a team, took the plunge, and founded one of Germany’s very first ride-hailing startups.

And that’s how WunderCar was born!

Helping companies access mobility

Wunder Mobility is a mobility technology company providing a one-stop solution, enabling companies and cities alike to provide accessible mobility.

Working with Wunder Mobility, operators can accelerate their vehicle sharing businesses, launching and scaling with ease, says the company in the press release.

David Blumberg, founder and managing partner at Blumberg Capital, says, “Technology-driven advancements in shared mobility services positively impact individuals, businesses, and society as mobility becomes more efficient, accessible, and sustainable. Vehicle sharing operators have a choice in how they approach technology investments. They can take on the time and cost-intensive software development and hardware sourcing or leverage a proven technology platform like Wunder Mobility to accelerate new products or scale existing offerings.”
