German deeptech company FLEXOO has closed a €11 million Series A round. The investment was led by eCAPITAL and AUMOVIO to accelerate global expansion and strengthen the company’s position in the battery storage and automotive sectors.
The capital will fast-track deployments with international customers and expand FLEXOO’s Physical AI platform.
The team behind the technology
FLEXOO was founded by a multidisciplinary team combining deep expertise in sensors, materials and industrial AI: Sieer Angar (Chairman), Dr. Michael Kröger (Managing Director), Dr. Mathieu Turbiez (CRO), Dr. Jean-Charles Flores (Director Market Development & Key Accounts North America) and Dr. Janusz Schinke (Managing Director).
Together, they are building a platform engineered to bring Physical AI from the lab into mass-scale deployment, delivering the precise hardware-level intelligence modern industries now require.
Physical AI: Closing the industry’s most critical data gap
Modern systems require live physical data, yet traditional sensors capture only surface-level signals. FLEXOO closes this gap with its high-resolution, ultra-thin sensors (under 200 μm) that integrate invisibly into batteries, vehicle components, or electronic modules. Their free-form architecture, produced through high-volume printing, allows manufacturers to embed intelligence into nearly any geometry.
Physical AI blends ultra-thin, free-form sensors with real-time edge computing, unlocking precise physical intelligence within devices and industrial systems. The round also enables FLEXOO to enter new markets beyond energy storage and mobility.
A major differentiator is FLEXOO’s world-leading tactile sensor, designed for accuracy, durability and seamless integration. Combined with localised edge processing, the platform provides instantaneous operational insights to higher-level control systems.
In trials with leading battery manufacturers, FLEXOO enabled up to 5% capacity gains without altering chemistry or structure, made possible by real-time cell-level data that traditional monitoring systems cannot provide. The same sensing precision also enables early warning to prevent failures, a growing priority for high-density storage systems.
Scaling Physical AI worldwide
The company’s vision extends beyond today’s industrial use cases. With its ultra-thin sensing and edge-based physical intelligence, FLEXOO is also opening pathways into humanoid robotics, industrial automation and advanced IoT applications.
The funding fuels several strategic priorities for 2026, including expanding international sales, delivering advanced prototypes to close partners, securing high-value supply contracts, and strengthening FLEXOO’s IP portfolio across Physical AI and dexterous sensing.
Its “Made-in-Germany” manufacturing approach and patent-protected technology give the platform strong defensibility as demand scales globally.
“FLEXOO sensors make Physical AI possible: Only ultra-thin, free-form sensor technology bridges the gap between physical hardware and learning algorithms,” explains Dr. Michael Kröger, Founding CEO of FLEXOO. “With eCAPITAL and AUMOVIO as investors, we are scaling a patented technology for a multi-billion-dollar market.”
Hannes Schill, Managing Partner, eCAPITAL ENTREPRENEURIAL PARTNERS: “The world is pouring billions into AI models, yet starving them of the physical data they need. FLEXOO closes that gap. What underpins our conviction is a scalable platform technology – a validated stack from R&D to deployment – and a targeted go‐to‐market with a tangible customer pipeline in large industries that have a clear need for reliable, real‐time sensor intelligence. The interplay of the most precise tactile sensor in the market and the Physical AI platform is unique and cannot easily be replicated.”
Dr. Otmar Schreiner, Managing Director, co-pace GmbH, Head of Innovation and Ventures, AUMOVIO: “What stood out to us about FLEXOO is how broadly applicable their technology is across industries, combined with a cost structure that makes large-scale deployment viable. Their highly efficient mass production enables exceptional price-performance, unlocking new design freedom and product concepts. In Automotive, this creates scalable use cases that were not feasible before.”
