Fal, a real-time generative-media platform powering the next decade of AI-driven content, has closed a $140 million Series D financing round. It was led by Sequoia, joined by Kleiner Perkins, Nvidia’s NVentures, and several existing backers. The raise places Fal at a $4.5 billion valuation, triple its worth from July when it closed a $125 million Series C. It also marks the company’s third fundraising of 2025, including the $250 million capital it secured in October

The new funding will support Fal’s next phase of expansion, reinforcing its infrastructure footprint and accelerating new product lines. Hiring across engineering and go-to-market teams will also ramp up to meet the rising needs of enterprises and developers building media-rich applications.

Building the backbone of generative media

Founded in 2021 by former Coinbase and Amazon engineers Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven, Fal has positioned itself as the infrastructure layer for real-time image, video, audio, and 3D generation. Its serverless platform allows teams to run open-source, private, or commercial models through a single, low-latency API that scales automatically across regions.

The company’s customer roster includes Adobe, Shopify, Canva, and Quora, brands that rely on Fal to deliver immersive creative tools, dynamic advertising workflows, personalised content, and real-time media generation. Reportedly, the company has surpassed $200 million in revenue by October, while the company says its run-rate has more than doubled in just four months.

This year alone, Fal tripled its team, expanded its engineering and product units, and completed a strategic acquisition that broadened its reach across real-time workflows. The platform now serves billions of generative assets every month, cementing its role as the underlying fabric of a fast-growing media ecosystem.

Scaling for a global wave of demand

As generative media becomes a defining layer of digital experiences, from design and commerce to entertainment, Fal is positioning itself at the centre of this transformation. Its focus on speed, reliability, and seamless deployment has resonated with organisations racing to deliver personalised and real-time content at scale.

With usage surging and investor confidence deepening, Fal is entering 2026 as one of the most influential platforms shaping the future of generative content. The company’s rapid growth suggests it is not just keeping pace with the industry but also helping define what comes next.

“Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, and NVentures joining fal is a powerful signal about where generative media is heading and who is going to define it,” said Burkay Gur, co-founder and CEO of fal. “Developers and enterprises are building entirely new categories of applications around real-time, personalised, generative content. fal is the infrastructure that makes that possible at global scale.”

“fal’s momentum has been undeniable as developers and enterprises kept telling us they were the platform to use for creating media with AI,” said Sonya Huang, Partner at Sequoia. “As inference is one of the largest technology markets and video its most demanding slice, fal’s speed, model selection, and workflow and collaboration features position them to define the category. We’re proud to back a team enabling high‑quality, AI‑generated video at scale.”

“fal’s velocity is rare, even by AI standards,” said Mamoon Hamid, partner, Kleiner Perkins. “They’re not just keeping up with demand; they’re setting the pace for what generative media infrastructure must look like as real-time experiences become the default.”

“We are entering the next chapter of generative media—one defined by speed, personalisation, and intelligent creation,” said Batuhan Taskaya, fal’s Head of Engineering. “fal’s mission is to power that future for developers everywhere, enabling them to build at the speed of imagination without being held back by infrastructure complexity.”
