Workforce expenditure accounts for nearly 70% of employer costs, yet remains one of the least strategically managed areas in most companies. Many organisations still rely on spreadsheets and disconnected tools, resulting in misaligned headcount planning, inconsistent compensation decisions, and poor visibility into workforce expenses.

CandorIQ addresses these challenges with a dynamic, collaborative platform that unifies compensation, headcount planning, and workforce analytics, replacing static spreadsheets. Teams can make faster, better-informed decisions with the help of advanced AI that identifies potential issues early and supports data-driven planning.

As CEO, Haris Ikram explains to TFN, “Most companies still manage their largest expense, people, with spreadsheets and siloed tools. Finance, HR, and hiring managers often operate in parallel, resulting in misaligned headcount plans, inconsistent compensation decisions, and unclear visibility into how workforce costs align with the budget. These gaps create real risk: overhiring, wasted spend, slow approvals, and internal tension between teams that should be working together.”

CandorIQ recently completed a $4.8M seed round led by Array Ventures, with backing from Y Combinator, CRV, and Switch Ventures. Ikram stated, “We are not disclosing valuation at this time.” The new funding will accelerate product development, expand engineering and go-to-market teams, and enhance the platform’s AI capabilities.

“You can’t manage what you can’t see”

Haris Ikram brings extensive experience in developing SaaS solutions for workforce planning and management. Before founding CandorIQ, he led Product Management at Blend ($BLND) during its IPO and held leadership roles at Checkr and Salesforce. Co-founder and CTO Sutthipong “Nong” Thavisomboon contributes deep expertise in enterprise software from his senior engineering roles at Oracle and Salesforce, where he worked on major product initiatives.

On their motivation, Ikram shares: “As founders, we were particularly attracted to creating a people spend platform for a few reasons: First, we had managed teams at companies big and small and experienced the pain of compensation and headcount planning firsthand. Despite numerous software subscriptions, we still relied on manual effort and spreadsheets. Second, we love solving multi-stakeholder problems. This was complex not just for us as managers/execs but required collaboration across HR, Talent, and Finance. However, existing tools catered to single personas and overlooked cross-functional collaboration. We remain excited about empowering leaders, managers, and employees with the data they need to understand compensation.”

Finally, we view pay transparency through the lens of first-generation immigrants who struggled to understand their worth while seeking green cards and citizenship. We wanted to create a mission-driven organisation focused on pay fairness because we genuinely believe it drives American innovation. We’d be honoured to help you with your compensation and headcount needs.”

CandorIQ’s team embodies its mission-driven identity, comprising 60% non-white staff, two first-generation immigrant founders, 25% women, and 17% LGBTQ+ members.

Breaking down silos: HR and finance finally speak the same language

Unlike most HR tech designed for single-function use, CandorIQ was “built to be highly collaborative from day one.” Advanced permissions enable administrators to grant varying access levels to leadership, managers, candidates, and employees. The platform’s deep integration with HR, payroll, and equity systems creates a real-time hub for compensation and headcount data.

According to Ikram, “Most HR tech solutions are designed to be single-player… However, the People function inherently spans every role and department within every company. Tools interrupt workflows and break down immediately when you need to pool input or share information. CandorIQ has been built to be highly collaborative from day one… Additionally, collaborative features are built in across the platform. Finance, Leadership, and HR can explore headcount scenarios and budgeting all in one place. Merit and comp cycles can be planned and executed (more efficiently and effectively) within the platform.”

CandorIQ’s AI actively flags risks, detects outliers, and enables scenario modelling, eliminating manual spreadsheet work and lengthy email chains. Its collaborative design distinguishes CandorIQ from conventional solutions, delivering clear strategic value.

What’s next? CandorIQ sets its sights on sales commissions innovation

Looking ahead, CandorIQ aims to become the “operating system for modern compensation and workforce planning.” Ikram outlines the strategy: “Over the next 3–5 years, our focus is to keep building toward our vision… We’re doubling down on AI. We’ve already launched AI agents to support HRBPs, comp analysts, and finance partners, and we’ll continue to expand their capabilities across more back-office functions. We’re also a compound product company, which means we don’t stop at solving just one problem. Our next major product expansion is in sales commissions management, a natural extension of our core platform. And of course, we’re scaling CandorIQ as a business, investing in sales, marketing, and R&D to support our growth and our customers.”

As market demand grows for smarter, more transparent workforce management, CandorIQ aims to lead by empowering organisations to make strategic, data-backed people decisions quickly and collaboratively.
