The global energy storage market is undergoing rapid expansion, driven by the surging demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and grid-scale battery solutions. According to BloombergNEF, energy storage installations saw an astonishing 76% growth in 2024 and are expected to increase tenfold by 2035. This expansion underscores the urgent need for battery safety, performance optimisation, and predictive maintenance solutions.
ACCURE Battery Intelligence, a German startup in AI-driven battery analytics, is addressing this challenge with its cutting-edge battery safety and performance software. The company recently announced a $16 million Series B funding round. This round follows the €7.2 million investment secured in 2023.
Funding to fuel global expansion
ACCURE’s oversubscribed Series B round was led by Incharge Capital Partners, a joint venture of Porsche SE and DTCP, with additional participation from BlueBear Capital, HSBC Asset Management, Riverstone Holdings, Capnamic, and 42CAP.
With this fresh infusion of capital, ACCURE plans to accelerate its expansion across Europe, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond. The funding will help the company scale its platform, meet rising global demand, and further innovate in AI-based battery analytics.
How this AI platform transforms battery management
ACCURE was founded in 2020 by Kai-Philipp Kairies, Dr. Johannes Palmer, and Dr. Georg Angenendt. It has developed a robust software platform that has already monitored and optimised more than six gigawatt-hours of energy storage systems and EV fleets worldwide. The platform monitors batteries, identifies potential issues, and recommends corrective actions to reduce the risk of an incident while maximising the financial performance of the asset.
These are the benefits of ACCURE’s technology:
- Prevents thermal runaway: AI-powered monitoring detects defective cells, imbalances, and state-of-charge issues before they escalate.
- Reduces downtime: Predictive maintenance anticipates potential failures, helping operators schedule interventions before costly disruptions occur.
- Battery health optimisation: Advanced analytics provide accurate state-of-charge and health assessments, extending battery lifespan.
- Enhanced insurance & bankability: By improving safety and reliability, ACCURE helps battery owners maintain warranty coverage and financial viability.
