TiHive, a French industrial deeptech company, has secured €8 million in funding from Karista, Wind, and the EIC Fund to accelerate its international expansion.
TiHive is expanding its reach with deployments already in the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, and the United States, and has ambitions in Latin America and Asia-Pacific. To support this growth, the company plans to scale hiring in sales, customer service, and R&D, particularly around terahertz IC design and advanced software.
Despite its global ambition, TiHive is committed to keeping its industrial base in Europe. All systems are produced, assembled, and validated locally, reinforcing the continent’s technological sovereignty at a time when strategic supply chains are under close scrutiny.
Makes production more efficient and sustainable
Founded in Grenoble in 2017 by Hani Sherry and Carlos Prada, TiHive designs industrial inspection solutions based on proprietary terahertz-on- silicon imaging and artificial intelligence. The company develops real-time, non-destructive inspection systems that bring “see-through” vision to production lines. By combining proprietary terahertz chips with advanced optics and software, it enables manufacturers to inspect every product, at full speed, without interrupting operations.
Traditional methods rely on random sampling and destructive testing, which often miss defects and waste materials. TiHive’s terahertz-AI platform changes this dynamic by scanning entire production flows, spotting irregularities instantly, and ensuring stable processes. Already adopted by several global leaders, the technology is now moving into large-scale commercialisation.
One of its biggest achievements has been transforming the absorbent hygiene sector. Diapers and sanitary pads require precise use of polymers, adhesives, and nonwoven layers. Any inconsistency can affect product performance, increase raw material consumption, and cause production stoppages. TiHive’s systems monitor thousands of items every minute, cutting waste and stabilising output.
The company has also built the world’s largest diaper quality database, analysing millions of items weekly. This provides manufacturers with unmatched insights into production performance and consumer safety, setting new standards for quality assurance in the hygiene industry.
Focuses on sustainability
The environmental impact is significant. A single diaper production line equipped with TiHive can save up to 300 tons of super-absorbent polymers annually, equal to preventing 1,500 tons of CO₂ emissions. For an industry producing billions of units, these savings scale rapidly. Beyond the environmental benefits, manufacturers gain better machine uptime, fewer recalls, and improved consumer satisfaction.
Expands into new industrial frontiers
While hygiene has been TiHive’s launch market, its technology is suited to multiple industries where non-destructive inspection is critical. In textiles and leather, it can verify fiber and fabric quality for technical uses and luxury goods. In recycling, it identifies impurities and helps ensure raw material purity, key to scaling circular economy solutions. In agriculture, terahertz imaging can assess seed and crop quality both during growth and after harvest.
Aerospace and space are also strong prospects. These industries demand rigorous material verification, where non-destructive, high-precision inspection is essential. TiHive’s terahertz-based systems can analyse composites and structural elements without damage, whether on Earth or in orbit.
The company operates on a subscription model, bundling equipment with analytics, monitoring, and ongoing support. This approach ensures customers benefit not only from hardware but also from continuous software improvements and operational insights.
“With this funding, we’ll bring TiHive’s technology to more hygiene production lines worldwide and expand into new markets. Our goal is clear: qualify billions of products annually, helping manufacturers deliver best quality to their customers, reduce costs and save resources at scale,” stated Hani Sherry, Founder & CEO of TiHive.
“TiHive’s silicon and AI platform technology can easily adapt to diverse non-destructive inspection needs and quickly deliver value across industries, from hygiene and textiles to agriculture and aerospace. Our deep-tech is also opening space applications, including situational awareness (SSA) & debris detection, and in the future, fast communications (6G), thanks to its form factor, energy efficiency and versatility,” added Carlos Prada Co-founder and CIO of TiHive.
