Traditional cleaning solutions are harsh, dangerous to one’s health, and destructive to the environment. Intelligent fluids wants to change that and it has created unique water-based, non-toxic, and biodegradable technology.

The Germany-based deeptech startup raised €10M in Series B funding led by Wave Equity Partners, with participation from existing institutional investors, High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and IBG Sachsen-Anhalt.

The capital will be used to expand the team, enhance manufacturing capacity at its German plant, and begin worldwide market expansion by establishing manufacturing companies in the United States, India, the Middle East, and Taiwan.

On the fundraise, Christian Römlein, CEO of intelligent fluids, said, “The funding by WAVE Equity Partners demonstrates the value of the innovation we have developed, and enables us to provide direct support to our global customer base through local production facilities. WAVE has a tremendous track record in backing sustainable technology innovation, and we are glad to have their support in this journey.”

Christian further said, “We have proven that sustainability and superior performance can co-exist. We aim to set up new benchmarks in this industry, and usher in the post-solvent era of cleaning.”

Praveen Sahay, Founder and Managing Director of WAVE Equity Partners, said, “The companies we invest in have exceptional green innovations for global markets, thereby enabling a healthier planet. We are thrilled to have added a pearl of German engineering to our portfolio with intelligent fluids, and with our massive support we forecast impressive development for the company over the next few years. The ambition to make a real impact with a combination of performance and sustainability will benefit not only the environment but also many companies and their ESG balance sheets.”

Armin Eiche, Chairman of the Advisory Board and a founding member of the investment organisation ARMATO, stated that the investment was a significant step forward in the journey of intelligent fluids.

Intelligent Fluids, founded in 2017 by CEO Christian Römlein, has developed cleaning technology for industrial applications ranging from oil and gas to LED displays, adhesive removal to microelectronics. Intelligent fluid cleaners, manufactured with non-toxic and skin-friendly components, combine efficiency and environmental safety for professional use in manufacturing, trade, crafts, and residences.

Intelligent Fluids is committed to making the world a cleaner and healthier place by actively supporting ten of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, the company has worked with 13 non-governmental organisations around the world.
