This enterprise AI assistant uses over 30 Gen AI models to increase productivity: Secures $25M funding

Ema, a developer of Generative AI solutions for enterprises, has emerged from stealth mode with the launch of its flagship product, the Universal AI Employee. This innovative technology promises to augment the workplace by enabling AI-powered assistants to collaborate seamlessly with human employees and address limitations of current enterprise solutions.

Ema’s innovative approach has now garnered significant investor confidence. The company has secured $25 million in funding led by Accel, Section 32, and Prosus Ventures. This investment reflects the growing recognition of the potential impact of Gen AI solutions in transforming business operations.

Earlier this year, TORTUS raised $4.2M funding to speed up medical admin with AI assistant as well. Moreover, late last year, Germany’s PandasAI also raised $1.1M for AI-powered assistant for data analysis.

Addressing the need for a more versatile AI assistant

Traditional enterprise AI solutions often struggle to adapt to the dynamic and multifaceted nature of work. They may be limited to specific tasks or domains, hindering their potential to truly augment human capabilities. Ema’s Universal AI Employee aims to bridge this gap by offering a versatile and adaptable solution.

“Our mission is to transform enterprises and empower every employee to work faster with the help of simple-to-activate, accurate, and trustworthy AI employees,” said Surojit Chatterjee, Founder & CEO of Ema.

The core technology behind the Universal AI Employee is Ema’s proprietary Generative Workflow Engine (GWE). GWE empowers AI personas, as Ema calls them, to automate a wide range of workflows, from standard and routine tasks to complex and specialised processes. This is achieved by breaking down problems into smaller subtasks and orchestrating their execution across various enterprise applications and data sources.

Furthermore, Ema’s AI personas boast long-term memory, allowing them to continuously learn and improve their performance based on human feedback. This continuous learning loop ensures the AI assistant remains relevant and effective over time.

EmaFusionTM: What is it?

Current Gen AI applications often face limitations, such as susceptibility to errors when handling private enterprise data and high computational costs. Ema tackles these challenges through its proprietary “mixture of experts” model, EmaFusionTM. This model leverages over 30 public language models (including GPT 4, GPT-3.5-turbo, Claude 2.1, Gemini, Mistral-S, Llama2, etc.), including cutting-edge solutions like GPT-4 and Claude 2.1, while also allowing for the integration of custom and domain-specific models. This approach optimises accuracy and cost-effectiveness for each task.

EmaFusionTM also empowers businesses to integrate their own private models trained on specific data, domain-specific models, or even “Bring Your Own Model” (BYOM) solutions. This level of customization ensures the AI assistant can cater to the unique needs and data landscape of each enterprise.

Early customer traction and investors’ thought about Ema

Several companies, like Envoy Global, TrueLayer, and Moneview, have already begun utilising Ema’s AI personas, experiencing significant improvements in efficiency and customer satisfaction. For instance, Ema’s Customer Support Specialist persona has demonstrably reduced response times and improved customer satisfaction by automatically responding to inquiries with high accuracy and appropriate tone.

Investors see the potential of Ema’s technology to enhance workplaces. “GenAI has the potential to unlock unprecedented efficiency in enterprises, which CXOs globally have very well recognised,” said Subrata Mitra, partner at Accel. “At Ema, we automate complex Enterprise tasks with simple conversations,” he added, highlighting the user-friendly nature of the solution.

Investors are also impressed by the team behind Ema. “The outstanding team driving Ema’s innovation is led by a visionary founder I’ve known for nearly a decade,” said Mitra, expressing his confidence in the leadership. Similarly, Ashutosh Sharma, Head of Investments, India at Prosus Ventures, stated, “Ema is a world-class team of product and technology experts democratising access to GenAI technology for businesses of any size,” acknowledging the team’s expertise and commitment to accessibility.

Early customer experiences have been positive. “Ema has been a game-changer for us at Envoy Global,” said Mahi R. Inampudi, Chief Technology Officer of Envoy Global. “Its exceptional accuracy and efficiency have enhanced our approach to elements of customer support,” he added, highlighting the concrete benefits experienced by a customer. Similarly, Matthew Harrington, Head of AI and Automation at Exclusive Networks, said, “Our teams have been really impressed with Ema,” indicating the positive initial impact on Ema’s partners.

What we think about Ema

Ema’s emergence marks a significant step forward in the development of enterprise-grade Gen AI solutions. The company’s focus on fostering seamless collaboration between humans and AI has the potential to unlock new levels of productivity and efficiency across various industries. As Ema continues to refine its technology and expand its customer base, it will be interesting to see how its solutions shape the future of work.

While Ema has potential benefits, it is important to note that the field of Gen AI is still evolving, and there are ongoing discussions regarding potential risks and ethical considerations associated with this technology. As with any new technology, it is crucial to approach its development and implementation with a balanced perspective, ensuring responsible use and addressing potential risks alongside the pursuit of potential benefits.
