As international travel picks up again, staying connected across borders remains a major challenge for travellers. Swapping SIM cards, dealing with roaming charges, and managing multiple apps remains frustrating. Istanbul-based startup Roamless claims to be building a simpler alternative.
Roamless has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round, led by Rasmal Ventures. The round also saw participation from Shorooq, Revo Capital, Finberg, and JIMCO.
With this round, the company’s total funding reaches $18 million, following a $6 million seed round in 2024.
Global mobile operator for travellers
Roamless was founded in 2023 by Emre Demirel (CEO), Ali Gazioglu, Asim Alp, Selim Aykut, and Cagdas Yalti, who spotted a gap in fragmented eSIM offerings that couldn’t scale to true operator status.
Roamless is working toward becoming what it calls the world’s first truly global mobile operator. Instead of offering country-by-country eSIMs, the company is building an all-in-one mobile connectivity app designed to work seamlessly across borders. At present, the company serves more than 1 million travellers and offers coverage in 200+ countries and territories.
The company says it has grown nearly five times year over year, driven by rising demand for simple and flexible mobile connectivity while travelling.
Emre Demirel, CEO and co-founder, says, “No other eSIM provider can offer this — we’re delighted with the level of service we currently deliver to an ever-growing global base of customers, and extremely proud of our bespoke infrastructure layer. However, this is just the beginning of the journey — we will become far more than just an international data and calls provider.”
Demirel adds, “We are rolling out our local market, b2b and AI-enabled features in our next phase — all to ensure we continue to lead on innovation, and give global mobile users what they need to maximise their experience”
Runs on carrier-grade telecom infrastructure
Unlike resellers such as Airalo, Holafly, or Nomad that merely bundle third-party eSIMs with limited customisation and a data focus, Roamless owns the rails for real operator ambitions, faster innovation, and reliability at scale, without service hiccups.
This cloud-based infrastructure allows the company to manage connectivity across hundreds of networks as one single experience. According to the company, this gives it greater control over service quality and enables it to offer more than data-only plans.
What’s next?
With the funds, the company will expand network coverage, scale its global go-to-market and customer support efforts, and deepen supplier and corporate partnerships.
- Roamless Numbers: The company will launch Roamless Numbers, enabling users to obtain local numbers in more than 20 countries and make calls or send and receive SMS like a local from within the app.
- B2B Expansion: Roamless is investing in APIs and B2B solutions that allow airlines, airports, OTAs, financial institutions, and superapps to embed connectivity into their customer journeys.
- Smarter Experience: AI-powered features to optimise network quality, reduce costs, and surface the right partner offers at the right moment.
The company also plans to expand its team and strengthen customer support across major global travel hubs.
Soumaya Ben Beya Dridje, General Partner at Rasmal Ventures, says, “Roamless is led by a founding team with deep operator DNA in telecom and a clear ambition to become a global mobile operator. Their technology is engineered for real-world scale, and the precision of their execution is remarkable at this stage. Leading their Series A round reflects our conviction in their vision, their grit, and their ability to shape the industry.”
