Female-led Resolutiion lands $10.4M to build an AI operating system for live enterprise conflict management

  • Resolutiion has raised $10.4 million to help companies identify commercial disputes early and prevent them from worsening.
  • One in five commercial relationships ends in dispute, which can result in losses of up to £1 billion in contracted revenue.
  • Cherry Ventures and Octopus Ventures are providing support to the London-based startup as it moves into the defence and energy sectors.

Fayola-Maria Jack had, for many years, been in charge of the Royal Air Force and the UK Cabinet Office’s complex, multi-billion-pound contracts, and realised that by the time a dispute reached the legal teams, a great deal of value had already been lost.

To do this, she began using Resolutiion to identify early warning signs. The London-based startup has now secured $10.4 million to develop this method.

The company states that around one in five commercial relationships hits a dispute, with losses ranging from £50 million to £90 million per £1 billion of contracted revenue. Resolutiion was established in 2022, has 18 employees, and combines data from active commercial relationships, such as emails, project trackers, invoices, and supplier messages.

The company’s AI system, Octavia, employs its own OctaviaCore technology to detect early signs of potential disputes. For example, if a supplier fails to meet deadlines, Resolutiion can identify these trends in the messages and delivery data weeks before a formal claim is submitted. It then assists in coordinating the subsequent steps among all the relevant parties.

From the Royal Air Force to the boardroom

Jack was responsible for leading the commercial transformation of the RAF’s £6 billion operations before transferring to the Cabinet Office, where she took charge of the Complex Transactions Team.

She also provided support to both the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs during the UK’s exit from the EU, and established the government’s first Commercial Dispute Resolutiion Practice. She holds an MBA from UCL and is currently a PhD candidate focusing on dispute resolution and behavioural science.

Jack has since taken on employees from firms such as Darktrace, Klarna, Everlaw, Luminance, Uber, Accenture, and KPMG.

A crowded field, but a different stage of the contract

Last year, Luminance raised $75 million and has now obtained a total of $115 million, whereas Robin AI has raised over $50 million across two funding rounds. Both companies specialise in preparing and negotiating contracts before they are signed.

Resolutiion, by contrast, handles the more costly issues that arise after contracts have been signed and work has already begun. This is a more difficult task since it involves predicting conflicts rather than simply examining the contract terms.

Cherry Ventures, Octopus Ventures, LocalGlobe and Auxxo, which provides support to women who found startups across Europe, are among the investors in the most recent funding round.

The contract management software market is expected to expand from $3.65 billion in 2026 to $9.62 billion by 2034, and Resolutiion is focused on the post-signature commercial conflict and delivery risk space, distinct from contract management software, targeting defence, energy and manufacturing, where a missed commercial commitment is far more costly than a documentation error.

It remains uncertain whether a deeptech operating layer for corporate disputes will emerge as a distinct category or remain a well-funded niche. Ultimately, the question will come down less to the technology and more to whether companies trust an AI system to handle actual conflicts between clients.
