Can $100M make Render the AWS for AI devs?

AI-assisted coding is making software development easier, but companies are now facing challenges with deploying applications at scale.

Traditional cloud platforms like AWS can be complicated and take weeks to set up, even for skilled teams. This mismatch between quick development and tricky deployment is increasing the need for simpler, AI-friendly cloud infrastructure.

Render is positioning itself as the solution. The cloud platform has raised $100 million in an extension of its Series C round, valuing the company at $1.5 billion and bringing total funding to $258 million.

The round was led by Georgian, with participation from existing investors including Addition, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and 01 Advisors.

Render plans to use the new funding to expand support for AI use cases and build a unified runtime for AI applications. The goal is to give developers everything they need — compute, storage, orchestration, and monitoring, on a single platform.

To accelerate this momentum, Render has launched Render Workflows in early access, a durable execution and compute engine for orchestrating complex AI application logic. The company also plans to launch object storage, code execution sandboxes, shared filesystems, and a consolidated AI gateway in the coming months.

Together, these capabilities will give AI-native teams the integrated tooling and observability they need to bring products and agents to market faster and more cost-effectively.

Emily Walsh, Lead Investor at Georgian, said, “We believe Render is becoming the essential infrastructure layer for the next generation of AI-native applications. Generative AI has made it faster than ever to write code, but turning AI-first and agentic systems into reliable, production-ready software remains a major challenge. Render provides the reliability, scalability, and operational primitives developers need to build and operate these systems at the speed of AI. We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Anurag and the team as they continue to define this category.”

Build and scale applications

Founded by Anurag Goel, Render enables its customers to quickly build and scale applications and websites on the industry’s most advanced developer platform, featuring a global CDN, DDoS protection, preview environments, private networking, and auto-deploys from Git.

“We are going through a generational shift in how developers pick cloud providers,” says Anurag Goel, founder and CEO of Render. “Hyperscalers are no longer the default for teams that want to move fast. AI-assisted coding means developers can build faster than ever, and they need a cloud that can keep up. That’s what Render delivers.”

Render is different from other frontend platforms because it supports WebSockets, containerised workloads, and unlimited runtime for backend applications.

This is essential for real-time AI applications that may need to run for extended periods. Its ability to handle complex architectures has made Render a popular choice for AI-driven software.

With more than 4.5 million developers on its platform and over 250,000 new users joining every month, Render says it is among the fastest-growing cloud platforms. Its architecture is designed to support stateful, long-running applications, which makes it particularly attractive to companies building AI products and agents.

Thousands of them already use Render, including Base44, Cognition, Luminai, Paradigm, and Fundamental Research Labs. These teams rely on features such as WebSockets, containerised workloads, and long-running backend processes, capabilities essential for real-time AI applications and agents.
