Founded in 2019 by Berlin-based software innovator Jan Oberhauser, n8n is approaching a $1.5 billion valuation after raising €55 million in Series B funding led by Highland Europe, Sequoia, and Felicis. This milestone reflects remarkable growth in both user base and revenue: the company’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) has increased fivefold over the past year, with over 230,000 active users and more than 3,000 enterprise clients globally.

These figures demonstrate growing investor confidence and establish n8n as one of Europe’s few software scale-ups successfully entering the international automation market. The fresh funding will fuel global expansion, including new offices in New York and London, and accelerate the development of AI-driven automation features.

Why n8n’s hybrid open-source platform stands out?

n8n’s key differentiator is its “fair-code” approach, a hybrid open-source model that ensures transparency, democratizes automation, and prevents vendor lock-in. While many organisations struggle with expensive, inflexible automation tools or solutions requiring advanced technical skills, n8n offers an easy-to-use, no-code visual workflow creator, with the option to enhance workflows using JavaScript or Python.

The platform supports over 400 integrations, from Slack and GitHub to cutting-edge AI tools, enabling diverse teams in startups, SMBs, and government sectors to develop complex, secure workflows.

Additionally, n8n offers versatile deployment options, including fully self-hosted solutions for clients with strict data security and compliance needs. Its active community drives rapid innovation, positioning it as a flexible alternative to traditional platforms like Zapier, Make, Workato, and Microsoft Power Automate. Notably, about 75% of customer workflows incorporate AI, placing n8n at the forefront of intelligent automation.

Why now and what’s next?

The growing global demand for workflow automation and AI integration has created an ideal environment for n8n’s platform. Companies seek tools that not only boost productivity and reduce costs but also provide transparent, auditable, and customizable automation that respects data sovereignty. n8n’s fair-code, open-source approach aligns perfectly with these market trends and offers a sustainable growth path.

Looking ahead, n8n plans to enhance AI innovation by developing smarter, adaptive workflows and expanded enterprise features like advanced monitoring and compliance support. Its expansion into major global markets reflects its ambition to become the preferred automation platform for organisations worldwide. This trajectory positions n8n to lead the next wave of AI-driven digital transformation, making automation accessible, versatile, and impactful for users of all skill levels.
