A climate tech startup headquartered in Berlin, ampere.cloud, has scored €5 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Berlin-based Point Nine Capital, which invested in Solarize and Gourmey alongside Helloworld.vc and Vireo Ventures. Existing investors like the Flensburg-based HGDF Familienholding GmbH & Co. KG, Berlin Angel Fund also participated in the investment round.
With the fresh funding, ampere.cloud will expand across Europe. Also, the funds will help it drive its growth and product development to the next level. The startup is also doubling down on its operating system for automated monitoring and management of renewable energy assets.
“We’re thrilled to have won the support of such renowned investors, old and new, and we’re more than ever committed to our mission of enabling the energy transition,” said Frederik Merz, CEO of ampere.cloud. “This latest round of funding will allow us to supercharge product development, expand our technology capabilities, and take our solutions to new markets, transforming the energy sector on a global scale.”
“P9 is thrilled to be joining ampere.cloud on their mission,” said Pawel Chudzinski, Partner at P9. “With their innovative technology focusing on making deployment and operating of clean energy sources, like solar, easier and cheaper, we believe that ampere.cloud is poised for massive success and growth. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
“ampere.cloud has been a fantastic investment for us,” said Marius Dethleffsen, Head of Investment Management at HGDF. “We’ve seen tremendous growth and potential in the company, and we’re excited to increase our investment and support their mission to revolutionise the energy sector.”
Operating system for renewable energy
Founded in 2019 by Frederik Merz, Florian Strunck and Erik Nitschke, ampere.cloud works with the mission to transform the energy space, tapping into the multi-billion renewable energy market. It is building the operating system for renewable energy, which will empower the transition to a sustainable energy future.
With its operating system, owners and operators of renewable energy plants can manage their entire portfolios on a single platform, and deliver increased efficiency. The platform connects the full value chain from local communication and remote control for operators via IoT, to automated monitoring, to connecting the facilities to energy traders.
ampere.cloud’s platform enables renewable energy companies to grow as they put their plant operations on autopilot. By establishing a connection between the plants and local grid operators and offering remote control to the energy markets, it helps stabilise the local grids and matching supply and demand of fluctuating energy generation. These are essential to prevent blackouts in a future world that relies largely on renewable energy.
