Doctors and surgeons often wait hours for radiologists to read scans, especially the millions of abdomen-pelvis CTs done each year in the U.S., the most common type. Those delays can stall emergency treatments or operations when every minute counts. a2z Radiology AI steps in with its FDA-approved a2z-Unified-Triage tool, which identifies seven key urgent issues simultaneously on those scans and delivers reliable first-read reports to clinicians right away.

The Boston company just closed a $4.5 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures and SeaX Ventures, hot on the heels of its RSNA 2025 showcase and a real-world trial that cut reporting time by nearly 18 per cent, boosted doctor confidence by 15 per cent, and eased mental strain by over 20 per cent.

“Every clinician has felt the strain of waiting for imaging results when trying to make an urgent decision. Our goal is simple: give care teams instant, trustworthy answers so they can act with confidence. SeaX’s support accelerates our path toward making this a reality in hospitals everywhere,” said Dr Pranav Rajpurkar, co-founder of a2z Radiology AI.

The new funding will support product development, strengthen collaborations with hospitals, and enable the company to expand its technology across a broader range of imaging types and clinical environments.

Designed to ease radiology bottlenecks

Founded in 2024 by Associate Professor of Harvard Medical School Dr Pranav Rajpurkar and technology executive Samir Rajpurkar, a2z emerged after years of research and conversations with radiologists, emergency physicians, and surgeons.

Unlike Aidoc, Viz.ai, or Annalise.ai, a2z-Unified-Triage identifies seven severe conditions in a single pass on abdomen-pelvis CTs, keeping false alarms low. Trials back it up: faster work, sharper focus, no dips in accuracy. What sets it apart is instant, wide-ranging checks that fit how radiologists actually think, not siloed alerts, paving the way for full-study overviews in seconds.

Since its launch last year, a2z has formed strategic partnerships with healthcare organisations and is preparing for commercial rollout in 2026.

What’s next?

This cash injection strengthens ties with hospital networks, accelerates development in chest and brain imaging, and gears up for a full market launch next year.

“Radiology is central to modern medicine, but delays can slow down care when timely answers are essential. a2z is meeting this challenge with technology that brings expert-level support directly to clinicians,” said Dr Kid Parchariyanon, Founder and Managing Partner of SeaX Ventures.
