The expanding trend of “browserization,” in which the browser has emerged as the modern worker’s principal gateway to the digital world, has revolutionised enterprise IT over the last decade, and recently accelerated by the increase of remote and hybrid work. While a number of security technologies targeted at mitigating these threats have appeared in recent years, they’ve shown to be insufficient and riddled with trade-offs.

Now, Elron Ventures and Ten Eleven Ventures led a $6M seed round investment in an Israeli startup working on secure browsing technologies dubbed as Red Access.

Cash burning strategy

Red Access plans to expand its operations and build on its early accomplishments with increased client growth and strategic alliances, thanks to the cash raised in its successful venture round. The organisation is also actively hiring for a variety of positions at its Tel Aviv headquarters.

Security experts with offensive and defensive experience from the Israeli Cyber Community formed Red Access in 2021. Dor Zvi (CEO) and Tal Dery (CTO) are co-founders with extensive experience in threat detection and response, malware analysis, and information security, having served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) technology units for many years before moving on to senior research and development positions at leading tech companies.

For corporate customers, Red Access, a Tel Aviv-based company, promises technology that “secures every web session across any browser, app, and device.”

Red Access emerged from the shadows with the public release of a platform that protects against threats without the need to install any endpoint agents or change work habits.

“Red Access represents the next stage of evolution in secure browsing,” said Red Access CEO Dor Zvi. “We’ve created a much-needed solution to an urgent problem faced by today’s enterprises — the rapidly-expanding web attack surface. We’re filling in the gaps, offering a new security platform that redefines secure browsing, establishing a new gold-standard of frictionless and agnostic security — the secure web session.”

How it functions

The “session-based” security solution from Red Access works across any browser, combining multi-layered analysis (including cloud and endpoint inspection), agentless architecture, and single-click management. The feature set offers comprehensive coverage and control against the newest file, identity, and data-driven assaults, including phishing, ransomware, and other major threats. The solution is device, browser, and web/SaaS application agnostic, allowing any firm to effortlessly secure every browsing web app session without forcing new work habits, purchasing new hardware, or adding layers to current solutions.

Red Access claims that its platform provides comprehensive protection and control against the most recent file, identity, and data-driven assaults, such as phishing and ransomware.

“Without forcing new work habits, adopting new technology, or bolting on additional layers to current solutions, any firm can effortlessly secure every surfing web app session,” the startup stated in a note announcing the fresh funding.

“The web attack surface has become the most significant cybersecurity risk vector for modern enterprises,” said Elik Etzion, Managing Partner at Elron Ventures. ”By browsing the web and using web and mobile enabled applications as part of their daily work routine, employees unwittingly expose their organizations to cyber attacks daily. Red Access is the only solution on the market to provide the best of all worlds — combining security, usability, and maintainability — in mitigating web-based threats. We couldn’t be more excited to help introduce this disruptive security approach to the world.”
